Ex-Stan Lee Chief Paul to Plead in Securities Case

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Stan Lee Media co-founder Peter Paul said on Monday that he would plead guilty to a federal securities charge.
However, Paul said the plea was not part of an agreement to cooperate with prosecutors probing alleged campaign finance violations by Sen. Hillary Clinton's staff.
Paul told Reuters he would plead guilty on Tuesday in New York federal court to one count of manipulating the share price of Stan Lee Media, an online entertainment company he founded with comic book legend Stan Lee that collapsed in 2000.
The charge stems from a 2001 indictment accusing Paul and two others of manipulating Stan Lee stock by buying shares with bad checks and selling at below-market prices.
Paul faces more than 10 years in prison but said he has made no deal to limit his exposure to prison, including talking to prosecutors about a star-studded Hollywood fund-raiser he threw for Clinton during her 2000 run for the U.S. Senate.
Federal prosecutors in Los Angeles have indicted Clinton's former finance director, David Rosen, for on charges of filing false campaign finance reports about how much the event cost.
Rosen pleaded not guilty in January to four counts of filing false FEC reports. He was extradited from Brazil in 2003, where prosecutors said he had fled, and was in federal custody until January after spending 43 months in prisons in the two countries.
Paul filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission and a civil lawsuit claiming he agreed to throw the fund-raiser in exchange for a promise from then-President Bill Clinton to work for Stan Lee Media after he left the White House.
The former president has denied that allegation, and both Clintons have asked the California Supreme Court to dismiss the lawsuit.
On Monday, Paul demanded that Sen. Clinton "take responsibility for her role in what was the largest campaign finance fraud basically that has ever been reported."
"I'm standing up and taking responsibility for an SEC violation. ... She, as a public figure, should do the same for her (Federal Election Commission) violation," he said.
A spokeswoman for Clinton could not immediately be reached for comment.
Clinton has not been charged with any wrongdoing in connection with the Aug. 12, 2000, fund-raising concert starring Cher and Diana Ross and billed as honoring her husband.
Prosecutors estimated the fund-raiser cost more than $1.2 million, paid for with more than $1.1 million of "in-kind" contributions from Paul. But Rosen purportedly told federal election officials in-kind contributions totaled $400,000.
let this one fester for 4 years....till it ripens....
Yet another "winner" client for Judicial Watch.
Here's another one for your open case file.
Haha hahahahaha Bawahahaha!
Pardon me whilst I wipe the tears from mine eyes! LOfreakingL
Oh yes, let this fruit ripen. It ain't gonna fall far from the tree, but oh boy, Hill, ya done did it. Ya broke the law. Can't wait to see the spin control on this one! SHE set the price she got!
Has she EVER taken responsibility?
No. She doesn't have to because OLD MEDIA has never held her accountable like they have Republicans. Just wait for her presidential run. We will be expected to believe she is the second coming by OLD MEDIA. We are supposed to have amnesia about all the CRIMINAL acts that she has pulled over YEARS and YEARS and YEARS. "Old news" don't you know.
Stock up on information about Hillary because we are going to need it to counter OLD MEDIA.
I've had a Hillary file for a couple of years now. It's unmanagably large :-)
That's why I say BOXER/Hillary on '08! heh
Thank you very much.
Gosh, I'm trying to think of what case was in the news the other day and has a secret witness who is testifying in the case that I can't recall AND an undisclosed to the reporter other case. It was a clinton story---Marc Rich pardon, maybe...
LOL! So do I. Together we can refute all the lies OLD MEDIA will come up with.
Nice to see Reuters keeping that "objective" perspective.< /sarcasm>
Hillary's STAFF, not Hillary. Heh.
Your thinking of the Peter Paul scandal in LA
I like how the "Vital Voices" logo makes a big W
oops me bad
Hope he doesn't plan on holding his breath waiting for her to do that
No, that's this case!
So many cases...and nothing to do with Peter Paul...the one I'm thinking of. This ping just jogged my mind to try and remember what other investigations are going on...Berger, pardons, fund-raiser...
The first thing I noticed was the 'Beijing At Ten.' I thought she was trying to get on the evening news in the motherland...
Federal prosecutors are battling attempts to dismiss their criminal case against Hillary Rodham Clinton's former fund-raising director, claiming in a court motion that they kept the indictment of him secret for more than a year to protect the identity of a witness cooperating in a separate investigation.
The government's motion gave little indication of the nature of the other investigation or the identity of the witness.
Can you say; 'statute of limitations'?
Just another Right Wing Kaball! Don't I just look great in my pink pantsuit? lol
"Paul faces more than 10 years in prison but said he has made no deal to limit his exposure to prison, including talking to prosecutors about a star-studded Hollywood fund-raiser he threw for Clinton..."
He's assuring Hillary! that he hasn't rolled over on her, in an attempt to keep himself Clintoncide-free. The coward. He'll have a convenient heart attack within a year unless they switched their MO.
I get the feeling the MSM has already spiked this story.
Hillary file.....yes, good one to add, thanks for the reminder.
Maybe, just maybe, this will compel all of old Clinton crime files to be resurrected and combed through.
I had it with Clintons getting a pass all these years. Clintons are the reason I became a Freeper, too. A couple of slimy low-life trash.
Figured y'all might want a ping on this one.
What the heck does this mean? If he cooperates with prosecutors doesn't that insure she will HAVE TO take responsibility? I'm missing something here.
Great, you and backhoe will prove invaluable to us in 2008.
No word on Mary.
The Hillary file would be nice to add to my website.
Agreed that Dems get a pass on everything. It's the way it's done.
Indeed. Thanks for the ping!
Hey FRiend! They are the main reason I became a FReeper as well!
Just saw on Newsmax that the Beast said Men are so much more corrupt that Women. Well, not if the women is the Beast!
Is this the dude that invented Mounds and Almond Joy ;)
Ditto for me too!!
"My spidey-sense is tingling. Did someone call for a web-slinger?"
WOW - I BET THE MAIN STREAM MEDIA IS ALL OVER THIS STORY!!!
He's asking Hillary to take responsibility. That's like asking her to quit breathing.
If Paul goes to jail I hope he does not come to the same end there as McDougal mysteriously did. The Clinton's never stop plotting to snuff out those who are or were "in the know."
The Face of Evil.
I actually heard a radio ad for Judicial Watch last night. I thought they'd fallen off the Earth or perhaps I was just HOPEFUL they had. At least they're under new management... who knows if their batting average will improve.
I thought I did ping you; I went back to an old Ward thread and pulled some names off -- if I missed you, I am sorry!
