(CNSNews.com) - The Pro-life Alliance of Gays and Lesbians (PLAGAL) is applauding a Maine lawmaker for introducing a bill that would prohibit the abortion of unborn homosexual babies.
"We recognize that at this time the gay gene has not been isolated, but with all the advances of genetics, we believe that it may just be a matter of time" before a test for the predisposition of homosexuality will be developed, said Jackie Malone, executive vice president of PLAGAL, in a press release.
PLAGAL hailed Maine State Rep. Brian Duprey, a Republican, for his solid support of pro-life legislation and said it is glad he will continue his fight for the unborn, even in the case of sexual orientation.
"PLAGAL would like to point out that "gay rights" has nothing to do with so-called "abortion rights," the group said in a press release. "Gay, straight, male, female, or physically challenged -- all are human beings that deserve every chance for life."
Abortion is a way to get rid of real human beings who are threatening or undesirable, said Cecilia Brown, president of PLAGAL. "Children are routinely aborted now because of gender or disability, so it is not inconceivable to see people aborting because of a possible gay gene," she added.

Actually, there are quite a few gay Genes. I know one myself.

This always struck me as an interesting one. Some gays seem to be on a quest for the Gay Gene to prove that they are like they are as a result of nature and not of choice, and that they cannot thus be condemned for their actions. Ignoring the non seq nature of this argument, they seem late in realizing the obvious conclusion ie. that if a Gay Gene is found, 'pro-choice' liberals will get to test their real commitment to gay rights when it comes to screening their own unborns, and I suspect that many, many gays will be aborted. There's some irony to this, I think.

Means there are no genes that make you that way becuase they cannot reproduce.

In cases such as this, it is nearly impossible to prove a negative. No one has found the 'gay gene', but liberals insist there is one based mostly on their feelings.

I think he is really just trying to spin up liberals. Which way to go, support the right of the mother to abort or protect gays against genocide. Either way, a part of their base is ticked off. Since conservatives don't tend to believe in the gay gene theory, it's a no brainer to support the pro-life position.
First no abortion for Gay babies. Next we can't discriminate, so no abortions for Black or brown babies. But wait, that's racial profiling, so NO abortions PERIOD!!
Cool. Now we tack on an amendment to the same bill to protect HETEROsexual babies too, and the battle is over.

Ah, but what of spontaneous mutation? If there is a so-called gay gene, you cannot dismiss the possibility that it is a spontaneously occuring mutation.....which could occur randomly in the population, without regard to heritability from the parents.
Kind of. The intent is not a serioius law, but to put liberals in an awkward position of having to choose between pro-abortion or pro-gay.
If there is a "gay gene" it might well be recessive. So, straight people could be carriers of the gene without being gay themselves. So, even if gay people didn't reproduce, the "gay gene" would carry on.
It is an elegant strategy.
Meanwhile, abortion of normal, healthy babies can continue unabated.
I think by "gay, unborn children" They are referring to any unborn inside a homosexual man, injected there by another homosexual man or in a lesbians womb, injected by another lesbian.

For or against? Why does the details surrounding the conception have bearing on the right to life of the child in the womb? If one believes that the child in the womb has a right to life I don't see rape as a factor that changes that right. The child didn't rape the woman.
Wouldn't that law be discriminatory?
Suddenly, her body is not her's and her's alone, after all. Okay to abort the child for any number of serious to superficial reasons, but denying the ranks of homosexuals another member will now become illegal.

There are no male calicos either, except that there are.
Besides, gays can most definitely reproduce. All it takes is a single union with a member of the opposite sex... perhaps not their preference, but it is possible. Especially considering the stigma placed on homosexuality and the historical prevalance of gays marrying outside their own gender in order to hide their queerness.
Look, y'all. The big confusion here is over semantics.
It is entirely possible for a condition to be inborn and innate, which is what the gay activists are talking about, without it being carried in the genetic code.
Perhaps a strong tendency towards homosexual attraction can be created by a temporary hormonal fluctuation in the mother at a critical point in the child's development. Many if not most birth defects are of this type.
A much more logical approach than a gay gene.
Now whether to call this a "birth defect" is an issue that will really get people rolling.
How to pacify both the rabid abortion supporters who would never allow for any intrusion on "abortion rights" and the gay activit extremists who would want to make it illegal to abort a baby with the gay gene.
Seems we shall soon find out.
In reality, the only people who would want to abort a gay fetus are the same people who are against abortion to begin with. A Christian family may not want to have a gay kid, but are they likely to abort it? No. A more liberal family that is not against abortion probably wouldn't mind having a gay kid.

Homosexuals say there is a gay gene. IF there is a gay gene detection test then parents will be able to abort babies with such a birth defect, just like down syndrome or anacephalic babies. Thus the homosexual advocates would say abortion should be limited.
Abortion advocates have to say that sexual behavior has no "gay" gene and thus abortion can not be limited by this concept.
Its a catch 22 for the left on all levels.
Which is the beauty of the excercise. If forces them to admit that there is no homosexuality gene.
