(AGI) - Baghdad, Iraq, March 8 - The commander of the USA troops in Iraq, General George Casey, announced that a joint Italian-American inquest commission would be created to investigate the shooting during which Nicola Calipari was killed. The investigation will last 3-4 weeks and will be coordinated by General Peter Vangjel, the commander of the 18th air transport corp which has been in Iraq for some time working in anti-terrorism operations. This inquest is in addition to the initial investigation and will be conducted by the multi-national corp in Baghdad. A USA press release said: "The command is working in close contact with the embassies of the USA and Italy and Italian representatives have also been invited to participate".(AGI) . 082028 MAR 05

I hope this produces some real consequences for those in error, and I suspect it's rooted on the reporter.

This is good. We need to be able to see whatever they have.

A joint inquest would seem to be the best way to handle this.

Time for NATO to buzz another Italian ski resort?

Unless somebody replaced the windshield glass, I don't think the "hundreds of rounds fired from a tank" story is going to hold up...

I'm guessing the Italians who set this up, are not going to come out very well.

The A6 pilots who killed the skiers are more guilty.

Looks like the side window is shot out. Lots of pictures of the car over here. Maybe he was shot through the side window, by somebody standing off the road. Some of the local talent, perhaps?

Remember Mohammad al Dura?

Old terrorist trick. Shoot somebody near a checkpoint and blame it on the soldiers. Instant martyr!

Our little communist reporter claimed she was picking up handfuls of bullets from the seat after the incident.

I can only speculate that our soldiers must have thrown bullets at the car.

Notice that the Italian government sent its bagman (Nicola Calipari) to give over $6 million to the terrorists for making more bombs and killing more Americans. Then approximately 20,000 Italians demonstrated against the USA at the bagman's funeral. I'm an American, BTW--not a west European.

WHAT IF:
We learn the Italian Communist Bitch, lied..
- Can we shoot her?

We learn the kidnapping was ALWAYS a Communist plot to get money to the terrorists?
- Can we shoot her?

We learn she was NEVER kidnapped -- but was looking for publicity?
- Can we shoot her?

We learn she was collaborating with our terrorist enemy?
- Can we shoot her?

Just think of the time, money and disruption that could have been avoided -- if they had simply shot her when they had the justification...

I just hope we don't feel the need to sacrifice one of our soldiers in the name of PC or to keep the Italians happy so they won't pull out. Worse things have been done.

I believe our guys followed ROE because they know they can't get tried for murder in this idiotic war we are running. Let me clarify, I think the war is justified, I do not think the way the armed forces cave in at the least suggestion of impropriety is justified. The torture, the charges of murder etc. Granted most of the cases have cleared the troopers charged but they shouldn't have to go through this for doing their job.

Also, I do believe there are sometimes real cases of murder occuring during a war but shooting combatants is not murder and shooting at a car that fails to stop at a checkpoint, whether is was roving or stationary, is not murder either.

Notice that the Italian government sent its bagman (Nicola Calipari) to give over $6 million to the terrorists...

According the John Gibson (FoxNews): ...The Washington Times is reporting Monday that the $6 million ransom was not Italian government money, but personal funds of the media mogul Silvio Berlusconi — who just happens to be the prime minister.

I also think the war is justified, and our support of the troops helps to build and sustain the morale of those fighting to defend us against terrorism. We better not sacrifice one of these soldiers to keep the Italians happy.
