These "counter-recruiters" are real morons. They're trying to take down our all-volunteer military, and all this would accomplish would be to force the government to bring back the draft once again. Do these fools really believe that they're going to do away with the American military?

Veterans for Peace is a communist organization.

For example, when members celebrate Veterans Day they fly to Cuba to honor communist veterans.

Perhaps there out to be a distance protection ala time place and manner. If they can restrict/protect abortion clinic speech, or hunters, or any other number of groups then recruiters must have the same protection.

If anything this is really clear giving aid and comfort to the enemy.

While we are fighting terrorists within and abroad, they are the modern-day equivalent of the German-American Bund.

Yes, they are. They do squirm when you confront them on their own territory. After Action report meeting our enemies

If a recruit can be talked out of joining by some patchouli oil smelling, sandal wearing commie I say let them go!

We don't need them!

It's a weeding out process.

Give us THE FEW...THE PROUD!

So being pro-war, ANY war is patriotic? Were the Russian sent into Afghanistan patriotic? The Cubans sent to Angola?

In this country, we have a constitution that controls the government and the use of military force. I believe in it (so do most Freepers and most patriotic Americans), and I believe that the government usually sends our military to war for good causes and usually avoids bad causes. That's why patriotism and support for U.S. troops go hand in hand.

Russian and Cuban troops have no such control, so support for them is not generally a good idea.

That's how I feel, and I think it's how most normal Americans feel.

But McCullough had signed up for the Delayed Entry Program, which the Marines told him was a binding commitment, and which Murphy told him was not.

When I enlisted, I was told that while in DEP status I was subject to the UCMJ! This was complete BS. When I shipped out from MEPS to bootcamp I had to re-swear in. Why? Because I was told it didn't really count the first time when I signed up.

Ahhh... the things a recruiter will tell you!

The US is currently conducting the most ambitious example of social engineering on a global scale - based upon the unproven assumption that ending tyranny will end terrorism.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Dang Japanese Kamikazi pilots are still wreaking havoc on our ships. Freedom, sheedom.

I'm with you, man. War never solved anything. What people really need is the iron boot of authority on their backs. That's what leads to real stability, huh?

This will require far more grunts than we have available. Some sort of compulsory "national service".

It won't require grunts; we invaded Iraq so we didn't have to invade anywhere else. A draft is the absolute last thing we need, for a number of reasons. But worry not your pacifist heart; the days of major warfare in this particular war are drawing to a close. The countries you think we're going to attack next will have new governments within 5 years. Events are in play that rival the fall of the Berlin wall, and they're just starting to take effect.

Those currently being discharged under "Don't ask - don't tell" will be retained. And another thing. It takes alot of cash to get those neat weapons you see on the Military Channel.

How's that axe coming along? You're grinding it pretty hard.

This isn't free speech, it's treason. These subversives need to be rounded up and their groups shut down.

Face it. Most join the military not out of a sense of patriotism but for the college money or training. Are you that naive?

Which branch were you in when you observed this, and when?

I ask because you sound like someone whos' knowledge of the subject comes more from emotional belief than real life experience.

"some military recruiters make promises they can't guarantee, such as money for college or training in a particular specialty, and give misleading descriptions of military life."

I far as I know all new recruits are eligible for the Montgomery GI bill.

As long as a training specialty is available, you have high enough test scores to qualify for it, and it is WRITTEN into your contract, you get it..

I would suspect the funding train for these people probably trickles down from Soros and Terrazya.
