Man Ticketed For Selling Girl Scout Cookies With Daughter

POSTED: 8:58 am EST March 8, 2005 UPDATED: 2:22 pm EST March 8, 2005

NEW YORK -- A Long Island man was ticketed in Brooklyn for selling Girl Scout cookies with his 13-year-old daughter.

Hoi Louis was in Williamsburg delivering the cookies with his daughter over the weekend. Louis said it was his old neighborhood, before he moved to Bethpage, and he and his daughter have been selling Girl Scout cookies there since his daughter was in first grade.

At 4:50 p.m. Saturday a police captain and a uniformed officer pulled up to their van as they were unloading cookies. Louis said the captain from the 94th Precinct ticketed him for selling cookies without a license.

The NYPD said the man and his daughter were not delivering the cookies, but instead were selling the cookies from a table they had set up on the street.

The child's grandmother, who was in the van, said her granddaughter was frightened by the police and the girl's father was flabbergasted. © 2005 by The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.

Oh well, Ray Barone helped his daughter sell cookies on "Everybody Loves Raymond", and got beaten up by the den mother.

I've seen them in the latest campaign - everywhere. Everyone talks about the thin mints. What else is any good - and what boxes might be best avoided? Just asking an opinion.

Hey, buddy, what are you doing up this early?

Don't you miss rousting all those cub scouts and HS band members selling candy outside Safeways and Skaggs along Buckner Blvd.? Budding terrorists, the lot of them!

Huh. This must be the most important crime the police can enforce in NYC.

Who'd a thunk it?

They just aired this on FNC and evidently they set up their cookie selling table on the sidewalk. According to FNC which may have goteen it wrong, an police officer not in uniform talk them they couldn't block the sidewalk and asked them to leave. Because the officer wasn't in uniform, they didn't believe he was acop and ignored him. He then ticketed the father.

I wonder how long it'll take for all the JBT-butt kissers to show up here and say the cops did the right thing?

You know who I mean. The "cops are always right and never make mistakes" clique that shows up in threads like this.

Samoas rock, unless you hate coconut and caramel.

The fat free lemon coolers are good, and Tagalongs (peanut butter thingies) are good too. Just look on the boxes and decide what flavors you like. Definitely get a box of Thin Mints.
