Is Buckhead a blogger? Or is he just a poster here on FR?

Its just somewhat ironic to me that the MSM couldn't even get this story quite straight.

Maybe a stirring rendition of anchors "away" would have been a nice touch too.

Buckhead isn't a blogger, but the MSM seems to use that term to refer to FReepers and other posters on bulletin boards. It seems to be a shorthand way of describing anyone who posts on the Internet.

Unfortunately, Dan Rather's not gone from CBS. He'll still be filing stories for the television show that started Rathergate - 60 Minutes. But he didn't make it to his 25th anniversary as news anchor, which allegedly meant a lot to Mr. Rather.

Amid the wafting smells of spicy meatballs and wine, in front of a Sony projection TV in Sandy Springs, Harry MacDougald clutched a Samuel Adams in his left hand Wednesday night as Dan Rather bid adieu after 24 years at the anchor of the "CBS Evening News."

But MacDougald did not cry in his beer

There are rumors that CBS will drop 60 Minutes II due to poor ratings. If that happens, he won't be broadcasting from CBS.

The socialist "mainstream" media is so out of touch that they do not understand the difference between a news forum and a blog. It's really as simple as that.

They didn't confuse FR with being a blog, I guess that's progress.

But they did:

MacDougald sees himself and other bloggers....

By inference, the article implies that Buckhead (MacDougald) is a "blogger" by virtue of his being a poster at Free Republic.

What Buckhead did when he made that famous post was one of the two major turning points of the 2004 Presidential election--the other being the release on the Internet of a sample chapter of Unfit to Command, which did a lot to kibosh Senator Kerry's use of his Vietnam record to show he could be President (yeah, right! ).

But Buckhead's post showed the power of the public Internet at its very finest--far more so than the well-funded MoveOn.org effort.

"For conservatives, he's been a black beast," MacDougald said Wednesday as a coat-and-tie crowd circulated around a GOP hero. "In conservative circles, Dan Rather has been viewed as an enemy." Which is why on the night of Sept. 8 — at 11:59:43 — MacDougald clicked the submit button on the iMac in his bedroom and posted a message questioning the documents Rather used, ostensibly from the 1970s.

I call bullshit. Buckhead, you didn't post what you did because you viewed Rather as an enemy. You posted it because Rather LIED. Rather was NOT TELLING THE TRUTH.

That he was an enemy may have made it easier to spot the bias, but that was not the reason you posted about the fake memos. You posted BECAUSE THEY WERE FAKE!

Great post.

And the financial and emotional help that FReepers gave the Swift Vets was essential to the President's victory, imo.

Since Dan rather was always one of the lowest rated of anchormen - is this much of a victory? The Oz's Wicked Witch actually was a big deal when DOrthy's house fell on her.

The world's changing around us and it behooves us now and then to take a snapshot to remember what was. It was Rather's misfortune to be on the cusp of this particular change. It was Cronkite's good luck to have avoided it. They'll do their best to write a history that glosses the whole thing over. We need to write our own.

Way to go, Buckhead. I think you owe it to El CommentDante to send a congratulatory e-mail to CBS News for keeping a leftwing fraud in their prestigious anchor chair long after his ratings sunk faster than an Oldsmobile at Chappaquiddick, proving once and for all that CBS News cared more about propaganda than ratings.

And getting the Urinal-Constipation to run this article should make it doubly sweet.

You might want to read This and check out this stat:

Since Dan rather was always one of the lowest rated of anchormen

Rather was on top of his game til about 5 yrs ago, when CBS went to #3 rating for network news.

If you had been watching these progressions for long, you would be better informed.

The bottom line is (although I do feel for Dottie and Toto) that it is quite a big deal to have the NBCABCCBS lose their lead in news reporting and to see their house of cards fall.

I do think it is funny to see how important an episode in a movie is that it trumps reality...:>)
