I have had people give me dirty looks when they see the "Sink Kerry Swiftly" bumper sticker on the back of my truck but most people probably think twice about antagonizing an old jarhead that could be having a bad day.

Up the street from me, there is a car with two stickers... RE-DEFEAT BUSH and NADER 04 I think she was a little unclear on the concept of exactly how they should go about defeating Bush.

These characters on the Left seem to lack basic reasoning abilities, don't they- since he can't run for President again...

Liberal mindset...typical.

Very typical. I wouldn't expect any less from one.

Reminds me (vaguely) of an incident back in 2003, when Darling Husband was in Iraq and we put a blue-star magnetic thingy on the back of our vehicle.

Coming out of Target one afternoon with my 3 sons in tow, I saw a couple of hoodlums circling our vehicle, looking inside the windows, etc. As we got closer, I could hear them muttering things about the military. I set off my car alarm with the key fob, and they backed up, then got into their euroweenie car parked next to our Jeep. They just sat there, though, not leaving.

We were right at the front of the parking lot and there were a couple of employees outside on a smoke break about 30 feet away, so I wasn't worried, and we went ahead and got in the Jeep. (But I had the kids get in on the opposite side and lock their doors as soon as they got in.) As I was getting into the driver's seat, one of the guys rolled down his window and said, "You were lucky this time. But if we ever see your car again, we're going to trash it." I gave him an indignant snort, got in and locked the door, and drove home (checking in the rearview mirror to see if these tattooed, pierced, early-twenties-white-trash-hooligans were following us....they weren't).

On the way home, one of my sons said, "Mom, don't you think we should just be proud of Dad in our hearts? I don't think he would want to have to worry about us getting hurt when he's not here to protect us." He did have a point: Why go around advertising the fact that Dad wasn't home and antagonizing the uber-liberal leftists that permeated the area (this was when we were living in Maryland)? And although we were quite safe at home (guns, rifles, big snarling Rottweiler), I did take off the blue star (boy, did I feel guilty, like I wasn't supporting the troops). I did leave on the God Bless America bumper sticker, though, and we hung a blue star on our wall inside the house.

I didn't tell DH of the incident until months later, when he was back home again. He was furious, and wanted me to file a police report or at the very least try to point them out so he could go give 'em a proper @$$whoopin'. Never did see them again. BTW, he'll be leaving soon for a tour to Afghanistan, and I'm getting a concealed-carry permit.

It is each individual's responsibility to protect themselves.

Agreed
However, in this situation a firearm was not necessary. She was driving a truck, the aggressor had a much smaller vehicle. If she would have used physics to her advantage there would have been three positive outcomes.

1, She would have neutralized the immediate threat to her and the kids,

2, the threat to others on the road would have been ended,

3, an enemy of America would have been checked in to Hell.

just the way I see it.

We had a poor woman in our area that called the police from her cell phone early one morning to report that her husband (or ex-husband) was chasing her down the road and he had a gun and was trying to kill her. The dispatcher told her to pull into a gas-n-go convenience store at an upcoming intersection where an officer would be waiting to help her.

She pulled into the parking lot and pulled alongside the cop and pointed out her husband's car as he proceeded on past the station. The officer took a second to calm her down and then proceeded to turn out onto the road to chase him down. What the police officer didn't see, I guess because his line of sight, was that the husband took the next turn and came back into the back entrance to the parking lot. While the police officer continued blindly up the street looking for the suspect's tail lights, the ex-husband pulled up alongside his wife's car and killed her with a couple of blasts from his shotgun.

Why this makes me think of Ben Hur I'm not sure, maybe the Chariot race, good versus evil, Ben won by the way.

Did they teach you lever arm physics in high school? I can take out an Expedition with a Festiva (to stay with Ford products) if I catch it as it's in a turn, high side low-aimed tackle. But even I could not count on that working without my spinning out or getting a secondary collision in traffic.

Car against car stuff works in movies only -- and then they have to reshoot it a few times. In reality -- highly unpredictable.

Explain to me again how this was a war for oil with gas prices over the $2 level?

Also, I'm surprised this was reported at all...after all, this fellow was just exercising his constitutional right to harass Conservatives.

How about you taking your festiva and I take the Expedition and we have a good old fashioned game of chicken?

Plenty of 'em here in Florida. I get in front of them, if possible, so they can see my TWO Bush stickers still on the back of my car. I make an extra effort if they have one of those lame moveon.org stickers...:)
