Judge unseals some Heinz records
Associated Press
PITTSBURGH The public can see some records regarding the estate of the late Sen. H. John Heinz III, but others will remain sealed to protect the privacy and security of his widow, Teresa Heinz Kerry, and her family, a judge ruled.
Attorneys for the Heinz estate had fought the efforts of two newspapers the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette to unseal the estate documents.
The newspapers argued the records could shed light on Heinz Kerry's charitable activities and whether she used some of her inheritance to help the White House campaign of her second husband, Sen. John Kerry.
Allegheny County Judge Frank J. Lucchino ruled Tuesday that 11 documents can be made public in 20 days. But portions of the documents, such as personal bank account information and addresses, will be edited out, Lucchino said.
Heinz, the heir to the Heinz ketchup fortune, died in a helicopter crash nearly 14 years ago. His widow took control of the family fortune, estimated at hundreds of millions of dollars. She married Kerry in 1995.
An attorney for the Tribune-Review, Ronald Barber, said of the ruling: "It looks like a significant victory for the press. But we won't know how close we got to the target until we see the records."
Paul Bschorr, representing the executors of the estate, said he was pleased that the court "recognized the importance of protecting the security and privacy of the Heinz family."
'The newspapers argued the records could shed light on Heinz Kerry's charitable activities and whether she used some of her inheritance to help the White House campaign of her second husband, Sen. John Kerry.'
...duh!...
Too little, too late. I'm still not buying Heinz Ketchup, though. I've found that I can get along quite nicely with the store brand.
the political aspirations of "hunk Chris" is also at issue here.
Same here! Just can't bring myself to pluck that Heinz Ketchup or any other Heinz product off the shelf.
yep
i have not purchased Heinz for years - he was my @#$% Senator for wayyy too long
thank God i moved to NH
Does he want to run in PA or Mass?
I also look forward to the day when he is my Former Senator. Moving to NC in the fall.
Chris is also a DUer, who posts under the name "Chris Heinz"...no wonder his mother is spouting the conspiracy nonsense regarding voting technology.
Me either. It's a small gesture and doesn't make a dimes difference to Heinz, but at least I know they aren't getting the money Hubby works his butt off for. I would love to hear if Hunt's or DelMonte have noticed any increase since Kerry hit the limelight.
I've always preferred Hunts.
Welcome, NC is a wonderful place to live. However, our govenor is an idiot.
I am still waiting for the IRS to audit her income tax and see whay she only paid 15%.
I am looking in the Wilmington area. The Monkey Junction section, I hear is really up and coming!
Plus anything called Monkey Junction is OK with me.
We will just have to work on getting a better Gov. in the future.
Let me be the first to welcome you!

After our last icestorm and more snow, only 80+ inches this year, my GF and I decided enough was enough.
MA is the only state to lose population, I would like to help continue that trend.
I apreciate the warm welcome. Maybe we will split a bottle of single malt and a good cigar in the future.
There are plenty of both in the abode.
