Who keeps a loaded gun on the counter with the safety off? Was he expecting company?

And clean the litter box every hour!

How 'bout I put a 6'x 6' x 1' sandbox in the basement?

Problem with this story is that it can't happen. There is no way a modern 9mm goes off by being dropped. 0ther than taking the saftey off and squeezing the trigger.

Every sane person understands that a cat would kill and eat its 'owner' if the cat was big enough, so learning to use firearms (maybe from hunter safety videos?) is just the next logical step. No one said cats aren't smart.

Someone else shot him and the cat is being blamed... like the dog gets blamed for stinky flatulence. We know it was YOU.

When dealing with guns and cats at the same time, always remember one end is the human end and the other end is for the cat.

Damn cats. I know my two would love to off me in my sleep. I can see it in their evil little eyes. Fortunately, they don't have opposable thumbs...

Good on you.
If you had really thought it through, you should have come to the Boston area and walked your cat over a man hole cover.
The family who's dog was electrocuted by the man hole cover is suing for $740,000.
I bet for a cat you could have gotten at least $75,000 and Sylvester would never have seen it coming.

Article doesn't say it was "modern". Coulda been a Luger for all we know.
