...Chances are you've seen Benny Hinn on TV, performing his miraculous healings. Houstonian Jackie Deleon went with her mother to see Hinn's crusade during his last visit here.
She was suffering from cancer and for her, Hinn was a last hope. She appeared on TV, apparently being healed by Hinn.
After her appearance, she gave hundreds of dollars she couldn't afford to his crusade and stopped taking her medications. She died three weeks later...
Hinn's ministry denied Eyewitness News requests for an interview and a request for a list of healings.

I just love Benny Hinn. Especially when he's chasing that little old dude Jackie around, in fast motion, while Yackity Sax is playing!

He makes Christians look bad. I will never understand how people think it is okay to live like billionairs from tithes or donations people make. I think Jesus would want you to live in a modest home, have your needs taken care of, and then the rest to help those who really need it.

This sickens me. My mother, a devout Christian falls for these people like Hinn and Bob Tilton and gets bilked out of all kinds of money that could be more well spent on a deserving charity.
It is men like this that tend to drive people away from Christianity calling them whackos and tarnishing our great religion. He should be imprisoned with the rest of their kind and repay the millions they pilfer yearly from good people.

What's Wrong with Benny Hinn? He's a fake. A charaltan first and foremost.
Even if his docrtine were not outside the norm, his fakery would be enough to reveal him.
Still, Hinn has been doing his show for a long time. I'm not sure why it is news.

I liked it when he'd slap that little old man on the top of his head! Oh, and that wacky salute with his hat on sideways. Good stuff.
To: Liberal Classic
No, it was a few days ago. I didn't notice this on FR so I decided to post it.
To: Laissez-faire capitalist
He also has claimed that the dead would rise again if you put them in front of the TV set while his crusade was on. Dateline NBC is doing an expose on the guy, or has recently. I think it was supposed to air this week, but I missed it cause I was at church.

He's on the same level as Robert Tilton. Tilton was caught taking all the money out of the envelopes sent in and the prayer requests that people made were tossed out in a dumpster in the back of his building.
I don't know how people can believe in these guys.

You'd not believe all the little old ladies who believe his charlatanism and send in their envelopes stuffed with a portion of their subsistence money hoping to insure they go to heaven.
My mom and aunt gave dough to Benny Hinn's predecessor, Oral Roberts. It drove me nuts. My mom even gave dough to Jimmy Swaggart.

Hank Hannegraf wrote an excellant book about modern day faith healers like Hinn and his bunch. It's called Christianity in Crisis. I highly recommend it.
To: Laissez-faire capitalist
He has now moved his family (daughter, son-in-law) onto the gravy train. They 'lay over' between engagements in the Carribean, etc. in $3,000 to $4,000 per nighte hotel rooms, go shopping, and send the bills to the ministry, er, supporters.
Anyone funding these people are fools that deserve to have their money seperated from their wallets.

I heard some Christians drink the body and eat the blood of Christ. Or something like that. And what about that die and be born again stuff. Or the rupture (rapture?--only what's rapt about it?), when all the believers get sucked out through a rent in the sky and leave SATAN INC. controlling the federal reserve. Or priests practicing celibacy, or not practicing it enough.
It's enough to give you the willies.

Part and parcel of the American experience. They will always be with us. That genre died down for awhile after the Trinity Ministries here in Dallas exposed Robert Tilton after much hard work. He is still trying to sneak back in the back door. Exposing them is the only antidote but that takes media cooperation. Fortunately they are usually eager to jump on anything Christian in order to discredit us all. We need to keep the heat on this Hinn character by asking the media to expose him.

Binny Henn is crazy. He has made many false predictions, his showy policies are not in accordance with Scripture, and he gives Christians a bad name. He believes that, since Adam had dominion over all the animals, Adam could fly.

uh, no. his church is in orlando, I think. I am in KY. I used him, the great people at TBN, and a couple other religious broadcasters as fodder for a paper I wrote about religion and television during graduate school. The things some of those people say boggles the mind.
To: Vicki
He was here locally a few years back and a local radio show was talking about the appearance and people were calling in to tell stories about the crusade. Apparently one man had a ill mother in a wheel chair who he wanted to get on stage to be "healed" by Hinn and was told pretty much to go F himself. Others called in who had worked with a private company to collect money during the show and a few said that the "healed" people were all kept in a room in the back and brought out and mingled into the audience.

Follow some of the Internet links on this guy...absolutely incredible that anyone follows someone so blatantly false as Hinn.
TBN keeps this guy on for one reason and one reason only - MONEY. They know full well he's a fraud and a fake, but they just can't resist the lure of the mountains of cash he hauls in.
Benny Hinn is a money-grubbing, self-absorbed false prophet who could make his brain-dead followers believe the Sun revolves around the Earth if he wanted to. As a Christian, I am absolutely appalled by this man's trickery and deceit in the name of the Lord.

Yes, unfortunately, when the MSM finds someone they think is a charlatan, then somehow, someway, they will try and use the ole' broad brush stroke and paint all Christians the same.
To: Laissez-faire capitalist
Touchy healers like Benny Hinn and Peter Popoff give me the willies. You can get many injured/invalid people to jump up and dance around for a minute if they're excited enough. It doesn't mean they didn't fall down later off-camera. But please, send in those seeds of faith!
