Because that's what fugitives are called until they are "convicts". If it's just PC, it's been going on since the days of old black and white detective movies. "Suspect" is a good word, IMHO. "Person of interest" is the one that's got to stop.

. What a day. Can you believe what has happened. I thought they would have blown the bastard away. I was disappointed that he was taken alive. Why does he want to live. He killed that other guy this morning. He should be dead and in hell

"Isn't that double jeopardy? If the Fulton County DA couldn't prove the case the first time, why did the judge (God rest his soul) give them another go at it? You don't just try someone over and over until you get a conviction."

A not guilty verdict is what what prevents a retrial, on grounds of "double jeopardy". Failure to reach a verdict, which is what happened in his first trial, demands a second trial.

" He was on the inside, as was the weapon."

This is the point that everyone is missing. Why did the deputy have a gun???

In our courthouse, there are no guns on deputies. There no guns on anyone at the jail or the lockup. In the transfer process, there is NO opportunity for a prisoner to come into contact with a gun. They are controled with cuffs and overwhelming numbers of force. Guns serve no purpose in this environment. We have 40000 inmates in our DOC and not a single guard carries a gun.

The Hollywood loonies will be the first to clamor for his release. He'll have dreadlocks and be some sort of "activist."

"...liberals might say I'm being racist by calling this guy an animal..."

Those would be the same liberals who compare Condi Rice to Aunt Jemima and Colin Powell to a "house negro."

I agree 100%.

"Perps lawyer said the beefed up security consisted of one additional (female) deputy."

Was she a pudgy 51-year-old dwarf, too?

"...standing around... consoling eachother..."

I saw those shots of the disconsolate deputies. Every one of them looked extremely "well nourished." Quickest route to wealth in Atlanta is to open a string of donut shops nextdoor to the station houses.

"Gotta wonder why that extra security wasn't assigned to the prisoner."

Atlanta learned nothing from the fiasco surrounding the "day trader" mass murders just a few years ago. And Atlanta won't be learning anything now, either. They will never give up their corrupt preferential patronage system in that town, even if it means every inhabitant gets murdered and every perpetrator escapes.

Not with all those news cams sighted in on that white flag.

Looks like CNN broke the case

I recall that an AJC reported that inconvenient little green Honda around ten pm or so.

Just think, if they would NOT allow law-enforcement officers to have access to guns, then this shooting would nothave happened!

Anyway, that is the anti-gun socialist argument anyway!

Nancy Grace is hosting a 2 hour Larry King special tonight (SUNDAY) 9:00 pm EST on CNN

Given all that we have learned over the past 48 hours, it should be very interesting

(Why doesn't CNN just call it Nancy Grace Special?)

Dude. There's a reason. If he's willing to disarm and kill a Sheriffs Deputy and cap a Superior Court judge, what makes you think he'd hesitate on you or me?

Irrelevant. If someone is willing to kill anyone - like in an armed robbery then they're likewise willing to kill you or me. We both know that the police make a special effort to capture those accused of killing or injuring government officials - like murderes of ordinary peasants are just not worth the extra overtime.

It could have happened to a man or woman who was alone with this guy.

It was more likely to happen with the woman. You think the prisoner was hoping he'd get the five foot grandma that day or the 210 pound NFL looking deputy? Should of been two or three guys and he should have been shackled too.Taking off the restraints once he's locked up would have been wise.

Liberals are making life dangerous. What happened in Atlanta proves it, again.

Liberals are basically cowards who try, through bureaucratic and legal might, to make the world conform to their sophomoric musings. Sticking their ink stained tendrils into situations their wimpy, spineless bodies would never really go.

They believe in “equality” so they made it illegal to notice a difference between a five foot tall, 51 year old female deputy and a man in his prime.

They believe that same deputy can go “mano a mano” with a 6'1", 28 year old male. If you’re her boss and think the man could overpower her liberals would charge you with “work place discrimination”.

Apparently they made it illegal in Atlanta to shackle and handcuff a prisoner charged with a violent crime when escorting him into the courtroom because jurors might get the wrong impression....like he’s been charged with a violent crime or something.

These idiots are dictating policies and procedures to govern situations they don't know a dam thing about. Their hogwash has become the foundation for what a deputy can or can not do in life and death situations, has become the framework upon which an officer’s career or life is ended. Why do cops and deputies let them do it?
