Senator John McCain's Reform Institute has suffered some bad press recently due to its involvement in an influence-peddling scandal with Cablevision. As usual, however, mainstream media have failed to go to the root of the matter.
Founded on June 26, 2001, McCain's Reform Institute for Campaign and Election Issues has long served as a nerve center for the so-called "campaign finance reform" movement – a movement which has done nothing to clean up campaign finance, but has done a great deal to empower federal judges and government bureaucrats to regulate political speech, in defiance of the Bill of Rights.
Now here's the kicker. The list of donors published on the Reform Institute's Web site reads like a veritable Who's Who of radical, leftwing foundations, including the Tides Foundation, the Carnegie Corporation of New York, the Proteus Fund and George Soros' Open Society Institute. (hat tip, Winfield Myers)
Not surprisingly, in view of the above associations, Arianna Huffington serves on the Reform Institute's Advisory Board. Huffington has long acted as a front for George Soros' "campaign finance reform" efforts. In 2000, she organized the so-called Shadow Conventions which provided John McCain with a bully pulpit to stump for his now-infamous McCain-Feingold Act. George Soros shouldered about one third of the cost of the Shadow Conventions.
Which explains why the MSM is so in love with McCain.
McCain's recent antics with Holy Joe Lieberman regarding their one-sided global warming hearings should alone qualify him as Soros' and Teresa's darling.

McCain is another political chameleon. AND he certainly is no conservative, a hard core RINO in my opinion. Like all of our fine powercentric politicians (eg like the Marxist Medusa) he will be anywhere, say anything, or do anything to gain power -- remember he was one of the first blatantly sucsessful engineers of legislation which flew in the face of the First Amendment (McCain-Feingold), which Bush approved, of course.
Yup...loved that lead balloon they tried to float a few days ago about how McLame could beat Hillary in 2008, LOL!
I can't help but like the guy. To me it looks like he says what he feels and he tries to do what he believes is right even if it might hurt him politically. That doesn't make him right all the time, but it makes him a better man than most of those worthless tools in Congress and the Senate.
This is meant to undercut the true conservatives......
Doubtful that McC or Rudy would ever get the republican nomination.
However, in the states that allow dems to vote in open primaries, I am sure McC would win in that state.
He and the Keating Five cost us taxpayer 500 Billion on the S&L bail-out.
Corrupt is corrupt, doesn't matter how "nice" he appears on t.v.
The pubbies need to purge McStain and toss him to the rats...he is corrupt and taking dirty money from soros... and the AZ voters ought to be bitchslapped for putting him in office over and over..

It gets even worse. Not only does he take cash from Soros - which was suspected by Richard Poe and others long ago since Soros basically wrote the CFR law with McCain's name attached - he also receives cash from Ter-ray-za's Tides foundation and NARAL. Yet another fine upstanding "conservative."
I was joking on that thread about how quick the "evil genius" Karl Rove was...putting out the campaign donation story the same afternoon the McCain vs Hillary story broke to knock McCain out of consideration so he is no threat to the Condi Rice 2008 campaign, LOL! Maybe I give him too much credit...or maybe not... : )

The LIEb-McPain union speaks volumes.
LIEberman is deceitful in Biblical proportions. He says one thing to make people believe he's a 'moderate" when his actions show he does the exact opposite, voting as a radical liberal.
LIEberman and ex-Reagan Edu Secy Bill Bennett used to give out Silver Sewer Awards to express opposition to Hollywood's salacious, sexually explicit and violent music, TV and movie output. Then when Lieb became Gore's running mate, he went to Hollywood on bended knee in obeisance to the moguls for votes and campaign financing, promising to strengthen Hollyweird's control over America.
Even more offensive, Lieberman made many, many pro-life pledges to religious leaders in 1988 as Connecticut Atty General running for pro-abort Sen Weicker's seat, based on a LIEb poll indicating pro-life votes were there for the taking. Once he got in---with pro-life votes---Lieberman turned tail and became an unwavering abortion rights supporter, voting consistently pro-abortion, and even voted to uphold partial-birth abortion on six separate occassions.
The Ntl Right to Life Committee still has meeting notes of candidate Lieberman's calculated, phony pro-life pledges. Lieberman's also a dedicated gun-grabber - as his voting record clearly shows.
McPain and Lieberman are on the Dim side with the rest of the deceivers.
With Soros' money and shadow party organizations, McCain can take the lead in the 2008 Republican early "Money Primary". Recall that this is similar to Rove's strategy for GWB in 2000. Lock in the most money early and you become the front runner well before the nomination battle begins.
McCain "Straight Talks" it through Iowa and New Hampshire with the media's backing. On to the nomination.
McCain then selects his good friend John Kerry as his running mate and beats any ticket the rats can throw at them.
This is McCain's only path to the oval office. Soros gets what he wants. Kerry gets one step {or one heartbeat} closer to his goal.

Yes, it is scary. But becoming more obvious -- these jokers are only interested in political power, and don't give a flying fork about the country. I am starting to worry more about Washington than I am about terrorists....sounds crazy, but when our own "conservative" president turns his back on the illegal immigration issue...that is big cause for worry and concern.

McCain has been through a lot. My fear is that he is the Manchurian Canidate and I mean the old movie not the new one. He has done a lot for America though what he does now is questionable.
Can you name one thing McC has done for America?
Would you be interested in buying a bridge or two - cheap? I have several in New York, and San Francisco that I'd be willing to let go for peanuts.
He spent years in a Viet Nam Prison camp as a POW. That is what he did for America and the combat missions he flew. What must have happened to him as a POW makes me wonde if he is all together there.
His capture was the unintended consequence of undeserved privilege.
I am sorry he was a POW but that does not give him special status, as he has not lived his life with honor.....before or after his capture.
I agree with you on all of it. I don't think he was and outstanding individual at all. He flew the missions and spent the time as a POW. As an U. S. Air Force veteran I won't forget any of that. I wish he wasn't in congress though he paid his dues.
$500 billion was a lot of money to steal. I wonder if there was a bigger caper in history (not counting theft by gov'ts themselves, which is a different category.) I thought the number was $330 billion, but the speculation applies either way.
My biggest fear on the guy is the new plan to extend McCain-Finegold to the Internet. Ultimately, they need to shut us down, probably, to win. This strategy could work, it seems to me.
In my opinion, someone should be raising money and mobilizing some kind of fight against this. Maybe produce a DVD and distribute it widely for free, get the word out to the "video viewing" masses.
