Man, Social Security will really be screwed. Each worker will have to be supporting 2,000 old fogies.

Think of some of the disadvantages.

Imagine having Ted Kennedy in the Senate for the next 1000 years.

>>A planet full of a trillion bitter, crotchety ancient 500 year-old SOBs.<<

LOL! That was exactly what I was thinking. Let the world fill up with a bunch of old grouchy thousand year-olds and I'll wager scientists would be trying to figure out how to make people live only until they were thirty years old.

I've always believed that God made us sleep half our lives away to eliminate half the time we could screw things up. Science would do better for mankind if they could make us sleep 20 hours a day. Themselves included.

Geeez, who wants to live forever? Going to work everyday for a thousand years would really suck.

Plus, I want to go to heaven! :)

For those that want to learn more about this topic and the Methuselah mouse prize check out www.betterhumans.com

There are some real genetic milestones around the corner and increasing proof that aging is controlled by certain genes. Yeast and nematode aging has already been successfully reduced (increasing lifespan by 2x - 16x!)in laboratories by blocking known aging genes.

I wonder whether this is knowledge that will require suppression due to economic and sociologic impact to society. Will people be paid in age suppression drugs rather than money in the distant future?

"Some scientists predict that today's children will be able to live for more than 1,000 years."

Some scientists are complete morons.

I am allergic to aspirin, so that would not work anyway.

Frankly, I will do what I can, but am not going to kill myself trying to stay alive. Living life...enjoying food etc. is more important than living to be 100.

Besides, after I die, I am going to be with the Lord anyway. Why would I want to prolong that to 1000 years from now?

Amen FRiend.

Besides the very good points you made, what the "scientists" tell us about "healthy living" seems to change about every 3-5 years.

Who has time to exercise 15 hours a week? Who wants to eat tofu and bean sprouts?

I'll make out just fine with my juicy steaks, cold beer, and the ocassional softball or golf game.

You serve the Lord every day in all you do as a child of God and warrior for Christ.

Think like that and you will see that everything has a purpose under heaven.

"It's false because the teachings and doctrines of Catholicism do not agree with a simple reading and understanding of the Scriptures. And only the truth of Scripture will justify in the end -- for God will judge us according to His Word, not by the dictates of some man-made religion, doctrine, or organization. What God's Word says will be all that matters on judgment day."

Before you criticize publicly the Catholic Church, I would suggest to you that a good reading of Revelation chapter 2 might be in order for you.

Are you really able to discuss the matters of the letters to the seven churches which were in Asia?

Do you really think that you could do so?

Based on your post, I doubt that you could. Write me when you are certain of the fact that you can.

BTW, I was raised a catholic, but I left that denomination more than half of my lifetime ago.

You are clearly no authority on these matters.

"Do you want to live forever?"

I don't know. Ask me again in 500 years.
