The assassination of Rafiq al-Hariri has initiated an international political chess match which is being played out on the streets of Lebanon and in the media worldwide. Hariri's murder twenty-four days ago sparked a governmental crisis in Lebanon that resulted in Prime Minister Omar Karami's resignation, cries of blame on Syria, street protests by the opposition in Lebanon, a massive counter-protest by government supporters, the reinstatement of Karami, and continuing uncertainty.

Yeah, yeah...stop us. Bring it on.
Curious the author isn't giving the same advice to Mr. Assad. The fire of freedom is terrifying the America-bashers and those who wish to keep the Lebanese people in bondage. Free Lebanon Now!
THE ONLY "HANDS ON LEBANON" THAT I CAN DETECT ARE SYRIAN!!!
Objectively speaking, this author is pro-islamofascist.
What are your thoughts on this? Any comments?
Well OK.
The whole source website is just what one would expect. What a waste of bandwidth.
Any Arab American freepers out there wish to comment on this?
The correct term is American-Arab.
The correct term for these people can't be printed here or else I'll get suspended.
We still owe these pig-humpers for the Marine barracks....
He is also a liar; he told a whole lot of people that he met with Bush before the election in 2000 and Bush told him THEN he was going to invade Iraq.
Are there any?
"President George Bush is attempting to use this crisis to his advantage, claiming the opposition protests are a direct result of America's so-called "democracy on the march" policy. Nothing could be further from the truth. Lebanon has been holding democratic elections since the 1950s, every four years (with the exception of the civil war years)."
I think maybe "Osama Siblani" is a pen name for Osama something else---at least if the clown actually believes this absolute garbage.
Keep your hands off America. If you insist on supporting 13th century thuggery, then go to one of the nations which still lives that way. You don't belong in the Free World.
Congressman Billybob
Yep, hey Bush, keep your filthy hands off Lebanon. Nobody there wants free elections or self determination or other stupid ideas like that.
I think I'd like to second CAL's request for your thoughts on this topic. There's been a rash of post-and-run trolling around here lately in which individuals are too cowardly to defend the BS they're posting.
I'm not saying this is the case with you, but it would be nice for you erase all doubts. What say you? Do you think that Lebanon's "elections" since 1950 have been legit, for example, as the author states?
I am an American of Lebanese descent (great grandmother came over). The notion that Syria's "valuable service" makes up for its virtual takeover of Lebanon for decades is fraudulent and inexcusable. Hey, Mussolinin made the trains run on time, so he was okay, right? If they were going to fix the problem, they should have fixed it and gotten out as soon possible. I applaud my Lebanese cousins who are standing up to the Syrian fist, and if they need our help to throw off oppression, let's do it!
And by the way, the Lebanese are by and large Semitic - closer in heritage to the Jews than the Arabs.
Don't comment much, do you?
Sheetheads!
"Don't comment much, do you?"
Perhaps he/she is busing looking through the CAIR website for an appropriate anti-American press release to post. It takes time and effort you know to find a screed with a good balance of anti-Americanism, pro-Islamfascism, etc.
As part and parcel of his overall strategy to render the Arab world irrelevant and subservient to American and Israeli interests, Bush has demanded that all Syrian military forces and intelligence personnel must withdraw
Meeky, seems like a post and run. We have asked nicely for dirtyrat's comments. What do you think?
There are many many people in this country and around the world who are willing to walk the walk with you.
We finally have a president that is willing to stand up to these bit bullies whether they're in Syria, Iraq or Northern Ireland.
I think it would help your cause to have the MSM offer some support as well, but don't count on it.
The Taif Accord restructured the political system in Lebanon by transferring power away from the traditionally Maronite presidency to a Cabinet divided equally between Muslims and Christians.
The Taif Accord also maps out a security plan for extending government sovereignty over all Lebanese territory. The accord calls for disbanding militias and strengthening of Lebanese government forces. It also calls for a withdrawal of Syrian forces inside Lebanon and the establishment of a joint Syrian-Lebanese mechanism for making future decisions about the positioning and functions of the Syrian troops. The accord contains a Syria-Lebanese security agreement and calls for taking steps to bring about a withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territory.
1989 is how many years ago? Nearly seventeen years is a long time and it appears nothing in this report's summary of the Tarif Accord (above) has occurred except for the restructuring the political system, transferring power away from the traditionally Maronite presidency to a Cabinet divided equally between Muslims and Christians and the "withdrawl of Israeli forces from Lebanese territory".
Nothing in Lebanon involving Syria has changed all these years except maybe Iraq's WMD have been hidden in the Bekka Valley (freebies to Lebanon compliments of Syria).
What can it all mean? /s
I would be perfectly happy to debate the merits of what the author is saying in this article with this poster. Afterall, that is the purpose of this board. Why would this poster fear such a discussion?
Screw Arab American News. Why don't they tell Assad hands off Lebanon? We're not the ones arming terrorists there or assasinating former leaders of the country. We're not the ones whose intelligence agents have prevented free and fair elections or installed a puppet regime in Beiruit. We're not the ones who continue to violate UN resolutions to keep an army of occupation on Lebanon's soil. Your fellow sub-humans in Damascus did that. The U.S. is only trying to get the Syrian occupiers to cease interfering with Lebanon's affairs so democracy and freedom can have its say there. If you don't support that, then yes you're Arab, but you're sure as hell no American.

I hate to jump to conclusions here. Maybe another opinion is needed.

Meeky, seems like a post and run. We have asked nicely for dirtyrat's comments. What do you think?
Hmmmm? He signed up on March 5th and has posted three articles, and doesn't reply on any thread.
Well, Dirtyrat, what say you? Have you an opinion on this?
Please let me know if you want ON or OFF my Viking Kitty/ZOT ping list!. . .don't be shy.
I am an American of Arab descent whose paternal ancestors are from Lebanon. I also have a son serving in the war against Islamic fascism. And I say lets rock, for the spirit of freedom is on a roll.
Lets rock and roll.

I'm not sure what you're talking about... so lets do lunch!
I saw a truck this morning with the following bumperstickers:
Bush/Cheney 04
the Lebanese flag and the word Lebanon
an American flag magnet on the side
a police blue stripe sticker
a Georgia Sheriff's Assoc. sticker
Hey dirtypants, are you too busy to answer some of the questions directed at you? Best answer before we put a hurt on ya?
"Hey dirtypants, are you too busy to answer some of the questions directed at you?"
Dontcha know? Being a secretary at CAIR is a busy gig. No time to respond!
Cat got his tongue.....
Pat?
Maybe Pat. Maybe Pat's lover Chris. No-one knows.
LOL.
I think so!
LOL! That pic never fails to get a chuckle outta me! :^D
