Will Smith claims he was forbidden from kissing Cameron Diaz on screen because of American racism.
The actor said Hollywood panders to the nation's problem of seeing a black man and white woman getting intimate and stopped the co-stars kissing in new movie 'Hitch'.
To avoid controversy, Smith says he smooched Latin beauty Eva Mendes instead. The 36-year-old 'Men in Black' star said: "How are you not going to consider Cameron Diaz?
But Hollywood is nervous about a black man kissing a white woman on screen. "That becomes massive news in the US. Outside America, it's no big deal. But in the US, it's still a racial issue.
Ironically, Hollywood is happy to do it if the film is about racism. But they won't simply do it and ignore it." Meanwhile, Will has confessed he and wife Jada Pinkett Smith have marriage counselling to keep their relationship on track.

What the hell is he babbling about? There are interracial kisses in movies all the time. I've got them in my special collection of--uh, I mean, so I hear. ;)

Will Smith is really starting to get on my nerves, which is a pity because I used to like the guy.
As for his marital problems, I suppose that is what happens when you have an open marriage.

That's ridiculous. If so, it must be Hollywood racism. I certainly don't give a hoot, and I doubt the vast majority of Americans do.
On the other hand, I haven't been to the theatre in 15 years.

I think it's Hollywood's problem of seeing a black man kissing a white woman but blaming it on "red" America and the religious right. They claim to be libs but they have their own hangups too.

He's a liar, but I just don't want to spend the time naming all the movies with black and white kissing.
I've always liked him, he's great to work with... no ego, no attitude... but... like Denzel Washington (and Cameron Diaz), some people should just not talk in public.

This is as paranoid as it gets. It's a freeking Movie in the first place,
and in the second place, He's a man and She's a woman! It's called normal.
I enjoy their entertainment either way.

Unfortunately, it seems that Mr. Smith is suffering from I'm-famous-so-everything-that-comes-out-or-my-mouth-is-a-very-important-truth syndrome.

Hollywood is the one who has the hang-up. They could not tout it loud enough that Halle Berry was the "first Black actress" to recieve an Oscar. I did not really care if she was black or not, she deserved it for her role. The same with Danzel Washington, his role in "Training Day" was so unlike anything he had done before and the chops he displayed were deserving of regocnition. I cared little that he was black and only knew because it was being trumpeted loudly by Hollywood.
A black actor kissing a white actress does not have any effect on my what so ever. Now two guys kissing onscreen makes me queasy and Hollywood has no problem putting that on screen.

The director is a lying man claiming to not want to risk alienating and not engaging the mainstream white audience with a black male kissing a white woman. Whatever. I screamed when I read that article *lol* Typical lib ASSuming what's on the minds of America, despite the fact that films featuring mixed race romance have been well attended.

Oh for cryin' out loud! I remember a big brouhaha on the OLD Star Trek when Captain Kirk and the gorgeous Lt. Uhura shared a lovers' kiss - that was about 35 years ago. I don't think anyone has batted an eye about it since.
Will is a really talented guy, but he's really out to lunch on this...

Why do people continue to listen to what these Hollywood trained monkeys think? They need to be reminded that they are not "artists", but court jesters, parrots, and trained monkeys there for our amusement only.

Racism??
When a black man can get mega-millions for one movie?
Gee, give me some of that kind of "racism."
It's more likely because Cameron didn't want to kiss a well known (at least in tinseltown) Bi.

I too think it isn't a big deal, but so far the pics have been of white men and black women. Smith was very specific that he was talking about black MEN and white WOMEN, as in "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner".

How is this movie doing at the box office? Perhaps Will Smith felt he needed to manufacture some type of controversy to get more people into the theaters.
To: Darkwolf377
Funny, this weeks Stargate SG-1 had a blond amazon warrior
kissing and bedding the black guy with the gold medallion
imbeded in his forehead.
Maybe it's only a big deal if Will Smith complains about it.
