...Here's a thought: why do we actually NEED anchors? I mean, what do they actually DO? They sit there and read a bit. It's always seemed to me that this takes up valuable camera time on the nightly broadcast....

It's all in the name of entertainment. We can't handle "just news". We've become a society that needs to be entertained every waking moment.

Games on our phones, DVD's in our cars, it never ends.

The rumor is Bob Scheiffer reads the news with no pants on after taking Viagra.

Favorite food? Pork chops?

The never-won-the-Presidency-it-was-dropped-in-my-lap RINO from Michigan and beige are open game, but EASY there, KidGlock on the pork chops.

My Mom used to make some KILLER pork chops, they make some pretty good ones with eggs , grits, and toast at "Awful House" (Waffle House for you Yankees), AND... Most anything Tariq-the-rag-headed-terrorist-bastard doesn't like is GOOD-TO-GO in my opinion.

Remember too, that pork (and as Fat Bastard said, baby) is the other, other white meat.

He is turning out to be a very watchable anchor.

Please. Do me a favor. Paint something. Anything. Your house. A bench. Your car. ANYTHING.

And then train a camera on it so I can watch it dry, instead of having to watch Bob.

I simply can't handle the puffed-up, arrogant pretty boys or "look-at-me-I'm big-time" types. If Scheiffer can keep a low profile while delivering the news, then GREAT!

I think Schiefer did a pretty good job moderating one of the 2004 presidential debates. I'm sure he is a lib, but he is more 'old school', not the off-the-wall M. Moore type lib.

His rating numbers are already in the toilet. He is a distant number 3.

Well, at least they're pulling in younger demographics, they're probably down to the advertiser coveted 75-85 range.

LOL! I won't watch until they bring back "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman"!

He is just a new hair style. It is the staffers and the institution behind him that select and direct his stories.

You are still better off just reading 5 minuts of ap wire. It will give you ALL of the network reports for the evening.

Your post is spot-on. For acquiring reliable, untainted news, America is chosing new media (internet, talk-radio) and has moved on, leaving the old behind. People can see right through the shallow stage trickery as mentioned in your post. Overt, unashamed, bias is the deadly germ that invaded the body of the MSM years ago and has now reached a level of fatal malignancy. As their audience (market share) continues to dwindle, the news divisions of the networks are dying out with each announced layoff of personnel (which is occurring with greater and greater frequency). I think that re-tooling a news broadcast using your suggestions would definitely make it more watchable. It would almost certainly make them more profitable.

This has also contributed heavily to the demise of the Democrats, since they hitched their wagons to the MSM years ago. The two entities are so entwined (and have been for so long) that it is difficult to determine who is the parasite and who is the host organism; anything that would affect the one (for good or bad) would automatically affect the other in the same way.

He sometimes is very good with not having bias.

At other times, he can be very biased, worse than Rather.

It just depends on what day it is.

Scheiffer's performance is directly related to how long before the Newscast they get him out of the freezer....

If they don't get him out soon enough he is still partly frozen, if they get him out too soon he starts to decay, the pong must be horrific...

"What a smart move that was, to put Scheifer in the anchor chair. (rolling eyes) Really gives cBS that cutting edge feel. Bwahahaha."

The extremely vast difference between Dan F'n Rather and Bob Schieffer could fill the Pedernales...

Go Horned Frogs!

I always thought Jane Seymour was beautiful. Trivia, she has one brown eye and one green eye.
