You think most cops know no martial arts? To the contrary, they do receive some training and, unlike the rest of us, actually use it on the job.
This is one of the hallmarks of flawed liberal thinking. Just because you can imagine a scenario where the perp might overpower a man, you think it is ok to match him up to a woman he certainly can overpower.
You are right , its the best place for her.
Okay,, obviously you didn't read my posting otherwise you would not have made those comments. No I do not think a man should be matched up with a woman. Read my other postings and you will see that I said she was at a disadvantage. However, what I did say was, considering the ineptitude, the proper environment was having more than one person and cuffs on him. My husband, a police officer (6'4 220 lbs) agrees and so does his police officer male friends, that this could have happened to anyone in the environment this officer was put in.
I have been in the military, a police officer, a fire fighter and an EMT. I am 5' 7" tall and weigh 175 pounds. I have fought men 3 times my size and won and I have had to have help fighting a 5 foot 95 pound female on LSD...and everything in between. I have seen large men get their butts kicked by skinny teenagers. It boils down to training, sure there are a lot of women who really need to be at home sweeping the floors that are in jobs where the use of force is required daily...however, there are some men in that category also. I have had two women partners that I would put up against most men and feel comfortable letting my paycheck ride on the fight! If it were a man my size that day in Atlanta who had his weapon lifted we would be calling for more security and better training in prisoner control and transport techniques but because it was a woman who was on duty that we think that it was her fault because we are gender biased. I used to be the same way, until I realized the value of good training. Maybe she wasn't trained correctly. did anyone think of that!
Thank you, words do matter!
