That was my initial reaction, and no doubt forensics will reconstruct some semblance of events, although Couey seems like the type that may brag about it anyways. Hopefully the jury and judge will pay attention this time.

IMHO, no punishment is "cruel and unusual," provided it is equivalent to treatment received by the victim.
