I think that's that's the bottom line. For the immediate future it's not likely China will try out it's fledgling navy against ours in a cross the straits move. But who knows what the future will bring.

IMHO Russian would try and take back everything it lost from when it was the old soviet union. But not China.
China would like the world. There is only one country and a handful of allies who can stop either of them.

Japan, India and Singapore are forming an alliance against China and probably many others will sign up. I doubt if China will be a credible military threat.

But, my fear is that Starfish is right, China may just buy the government of Taiwan. After all, they bought the Democratic National Committee during the Clinton administration. Politicians are cheap.

If so, then how do we deal with that?
