HOMOSASSA, Fla. (AP) -- A registered sex offender admitted Friday that he kidnapped and killed a 9-year-old girl who disappeared from her bedroom more than three weeks ago and told police where they could find her body, authorities said.
John Evander Couey, 46, had been arrested Thursday and named a "person of interest" in Jessica Lunsford's disappearance. He confessed to authorities after taking a lie-detector test, Citrus County Sheriff Jeff Dawsy said.
"At the end of the polygraph, he said, 'You don't have to tell me the results. I know what they are,'" Dawsy said. "He apologized to the investigators for wasting their time."

In two of the reports I've read, it states that Couey, the perpetrator, is 46 years old. He looks 66 years old!!!!!!!!!!!
Amen, my reaction exactly. Hard to really think they haven't screwed up his age. Somebody better check those dates.
Do registered sex offender child murderers regularly lie about their age. I mean he's got to be at least 56!
I know. I'm 10 years older than he is a I look 10 years younger than he does.
I think you get 5 or 6 felony convictions, I don't care if they are for tearing off mattress tags, you should get the needle and save everybody else from misery.

I have an idea he has lived on the streets. I live near a main line of the Southern Pacific Railroad and there are lots of homeless people...even in their twenties they look old.

I heard earlier on one of the cable news stations that this monster had served TWO years for child molestation. The thing is, these creeps tell us far in advance they are going to continue to prey on children or even kill. They can no longer be released and there is no cure.

Bumping your comments all the way to the top! I've been asking that same question, as I'm sure have many others. Those who prey on kids get NO RESPECT in prison, WHY, OH WHY should they get ANY respect anywhere else? If you can't execute, at least castrate!

He was on tv just last week in an unrelated news story about smoking he was shown in a bar smoking, laughing ect in the clip. Scary knowing what we know now.
Of course the blame lies with this animal, but if you don't feel that society should have locked him up forever when he served notice by committing the molestation of a child before, you don't have a grasp of what is wrong with "our" system. Like it or not, it is our system built by us and it doesn't work far too often. He served TWO years for raping a child once before.
24 burglaries, numerous sexual incidents with minors. We now know what a human animal has to do to be put away from human beings and their children. Please allow Justice to be swift, and televised.
But it is a real shame when someone has to die in order to figure this out.
They just mentioned on Fox that there is a BOLO for Couey's sister. Apparently she lied to police about Couey's whereabouts or the last time she'd seen him. When I think of the grief she could have saved the Lunsford family, it infuriates me.

The interesting thing about this record is that the foregoing are all "non-violent" crimes. In particular, burglary usually is since the perpetrators normally try to hit uninhabited homes. That's exactly why adoption and strong enforcement of "three strikes and you're out" legislation is so important. It gets the so-called "non-violent" habitual criminals like this this subhuman piece of filth off the streets and makes it impossible for them to commit horrible crimes like this. Also, their "non-violent" crimes cause a terrible amount of suffering for the victims and costs to the rest of the community.
