Terri's husband isn't the enemy, guardian says
Orlando Sentinel ^ | February 25, 2005 | Mike Thomas

Wolfson's report is based on court files, depositions, medical records and interviews with everyone involved.

That said, I begin with the most explosive allegation:

Did Michael try to kill Terri?

Wolfson laughs. "No!"

-----

Wolfson's report states that in the four years after her collapse, Michael "had insistently held to the premise that Theresa could recover and the evidence is incontrovertible that he gave his heart and soul to her treatment and care . . . In late autumn of 1990, following months of therapy and testing and formal diagnoses of persistent vegetative state with no evidence of improvement, Michael took Theresa to California, where she received an experimental thalamic stimulator implant in her brain. Michael remained in California caring for Theresa during a period of several months."

Says Wolfson now: "Michael was adoring of her. One nursing home complained he was hostile and abusive of the staff in championing her care. She was immaculately kept. In 13 years, she never had one bedsore."

Also Terri's best friend, Joan, also gave testimony that Terri had said she didn't want to be kept alive with tubes.

Make sure you have a living will; that may be the only "good" thing to come out of all this. It will make people realize how important that is.

I think Michael changed his mind after he heard Terri's parents testify the lengths to which they would go to keep Terri alive. Gruesome isn't the word for it.

That's not to condemn them, but it was pretty excessive.

I've seen freepers espouse that Michael is after the insurance money. And yet according to court papers, Michael formally offered to divest himself entirely of his financial interests in the guardianship estate.

Michael stipulated that he must be allowed to kill TERRI FIRST, before divesting himself of the guardianship estate. NOT A VERY GOOD DEAL.

I know. I wish some here would examine the Schindlers as closely as they do Mr. Schiavo. It's not a pretty thing to say, but this whole situation isn't pretty.

I question it because her friend, Diane Meyer, said something quite different. I've never seen a "Joan" mentioned. Jackie Rhodes but not a "Joan".

The article on which we are all commenting has a link at the end of the page that includes all the court testimony.

The link was working when this article was previously posted on FR a couple of months ago. I tried to get on it again this morning and it's not working. At least not for me. BUt you can try it.

Also a google search has a couple of links to court testimony.

Her sister denied that Terri had bulimia but that is the very basis under which Michael won a malpractice suit.

And the doctor who was being SUED, was later cleared of ALL CHARGES. That means the CHARGES WERE BASELESS. That means the bulimia was MADE UP OUT OF THIN AIR.

So you believe that he would state all that, then she'd die and he'd say, HA HA FOOLED YA? It's the only leverage he has. You guys think you're the only ones who feel stronly about what you believe, don't you? Maybe Michael feels strongly. If he didn't, why would he go through all of this craziness. AND PLEASE DON'T SAY MONEY. I will make a wager with anyone right here right now that the first one who will profit from the Terri situation will be named Schindler.

I read the link that led to court documents a month or so ago so maybe I've gotten the name wrong. It was her best friend and the name started with "J". She stated under oath that Terri told her she'd never want to live with tubes, etc.

I wish there would be just one consolidated TS thread with any and all pertinent articles posted.

I say that for a few reasons ;-)

I don't think that's right. That lawsuit resulted in a $700,000 award. I wish my memory was better, but I've never read what you just said.

Actually, court testimony from nurses say that Terri "speaks" and moves her eyes and head whether there is someone in the room with her or not.

So do I.
