After Action Report Austin, TX March 19, 2005 freeping the anti-war protestors.

Some Freepers joined the Protest Warriors to counter the Anti-War protestors.

Present were DrewsDad, Tarawa (thanks for all the heads up) kjc##? (beautiful, informed lady) The BatLady in the burka with a purple finger proudly raised, DaveinTX ( ? Not sure of spelling) GOOD JOB FREEPERS!!!

GOOD JOB PROTEST WARRIORS!!!

We met on the grass outside the Palmer auditorum and parking was close. The PW had huge, great signs (someone post what they said) and very long sticks. This was a genius move! More about that later.

This was a lot of fun. I sure wish more H.O.T. members could meet with us. This report should be my notes as secretary today.

I put on the burka and used a sharpie made my finger purple. I taped a picture of an Iraqi woman voter showing her purple finger to the back of a foam yellow smiley face. I thought they needed to smile and be happier and I WAS RIGHT!

I would like to say that we just met the most articulate, well groomed, well dressed, well mannered gentlemen that I have met in a long time. I would like to say that, But I can't say that because these people were really foul, really smelly, in your face and well ... pretty disgusting.

When we arrived at our little triangle patch of grass under a HUGE budding oak tree, there were some people across the street on the bleachers and others setting up the stage. The main body of unwashed were marching down the street from wherever they hooked up.

We had a pretty good turnout up here in Southeastern MI. today ,despite the cold temps & freezing rain. Queenkathy's husband took photos and is also currently in the process of uploading them to the website. We had 10-15 "Freepers" out there in liberal Adrain, MI. We even had 3 kids with us [I had my 2 with me] the folks driving by honked & waved at us and were basically responded very well to us. Quennkathy will give futhere details when she comes online!

SEMPER FI ALL!!

We were all watching the sky in case of rain or lightening. The bleachers across the street were covered by metal we figured we were safer under the tree. We set up along the sidewalk and faced the signs so that the whole rally looking at the speaker would have our signs on the other side of the street. (they didn't' like that, more later about this)

There were 3 kids sitting in the grass with a dog in the triangle but they didn't last long with the PW (Protest Warriors) down at that end.

Next time I looked they were gone.

(Remember two years ago in 2002 there were 1500 anti-war protestors to 5 (FIVE) freepers.
They were outmatched in wits and knowledge. )

I liked having 17 of us and mostly big men with long sticks in their hands and huge signs. Great odds.

Wish ya'll had been there! More as time passes.

Hey Bat Lady, that was a great Freep today, although I'm still trying to get that nasty hippie funk off me. You were great with the burka and purple finger. The Protest Warriors were awesome and well organized. We saw Drews Dad on TV this evening, and he was very articulate and knowledgeable. Good Job!

I'm so sorry to have missed this--I seem somehow to miss all the good ones--LOL! I've got a houseful of kids and grandkids from out of town, who started arriving about 3 today. I was there in spirit, though.

Good job, H.O.T. Freepers and Patriot Warriors! Can't wait to see the photos.

The main group came around the corner, like a huge parade. There was a big paper machae GW (nice of them to include the president) flags, signs and bamboo poles that strung together with the BLACK flags. This was very effective! It made a fence, held signs (not very readable from a distance but not bad) and in general was the best tool they had/used today. More on this later after the pictures come in.

There were lots of signs, looking more homemade instead of pre-printed with all the usual clap-trap.

There were sheets painted with slogans (the World Workers Party) strung between 2 poles. Very readable from a distance.

They drifted to the bleachers and stretched out along the block. We thought about 200. We were about 17. After the rally began we were talking quietly not really trying to hear the speakers because that couldn't happen. But not disturbing their rally.

Every now and then one or two would come over to talk, or get in a heated discussion with us. At the beginning an officer explained to them that we (both sides) had agreed to stay on our own sides.
Them over by the City Hall plaza and
us on the tiny triangle.
For a while they would leave but then a whole bunch of them surrounded us and stood in front of us, so that their signs would be in front.

The police said they weren't going to do anything or ask them to leave. But I could go to the other side (the anti-war) side and ask the officer in charge to move them back. I didn't want to take all my stuff over there, so Tarawa talked to him. He can tell that chat.

I did wonder aloud (well very loudly) why their side never can follow the rules. They didn't seem to care, and my 1st amendment wasn't as important as theirs and they don't really encourage diversity of thoughts.

AND they smell.

"Unwashed" was the literal truth for some of them.

Many of the ones who crossed the street to hassel us were dressed in black masks, terrorist style. Their leader was an old hippie.

The Black Flag Roaches were pretty annoying. They did their best to provoke us: verbally threatening us; moving their flags right in our faces; nasty cursing; bumping into us.

I finally just stepped in front of them and that pissed them off, but I was right at the curb. It was nice when the police finally pushed them back. I finally got tired of one of the dweebs blowing his smoke in my face and moved sown to the end since they were limited on their range.

I would like to tell the end, missing lots in between but that can come out later…
I was having a wonderful chat with a Libertarian/Republican named Rob. He is against the UN. ME, Too. He agrees with me that President Bush should have kicked out the whole UN on
9/12/01 because we needed the office space. His pretty girlfriend was holding a sign about the World Workers Party and I suggested that we stand behind the 2 guys holding the WWP sheet painted sign and hung between 2 poles.

As we walked up the guy on the left (figures) started cussing 1st her out and then me. His entire vocabulary consisted of 4 words. They are as George Carlin would say….. F**k YOU!!! And….SHUT UP!!!

From here on out when he speaks it will say…
FY!!! SU!!!

I said that is was a shame that he had such a poor vocabulary that he couldn't communicate his ideas.

HE said, FY!!! SU!!!
Rob and I were going to continue our conversation but this guy kept yelling (I guess he thought we were deaf) FY!!! SU!!!

He said we were homophobes and Rob and I looked at each other and shrugged and said we don't care what they do as long as it isn't with the children.

So he called Rob gay and in a swishy voice said Rob was a big stud and got more vulgar from there. Rob didn't get angry (takes a real man to laugh stuff off but then he was a confident guy in himself) Then “the guy who knew 4 words” said something very vulgar to me. He looked me straight in the eye and we held contact for a minute or so. My thoughts raced, what to say,
Does he talk to his mom like this?
Does he talk to all the girls he meets like this?
Does he have a lot of lovely ladies just flocking to hear his golden tongue?
He is no gentleman.

he continues talking FY!!! SU!!!

Finally I looked at Rob and said isn't it funny that they always bring up sex talk and gays? Can't they bring up any ideas, solutions to our many problems, calm discussion?

We LAUGHED at “the guy who knew 4 words”

And he said, “FY!!! SU!!!”

I found this man to be rude, crude and totally unacceptable. He has no respect for women, himself or his friends. So before all our side left, I said that I was sorry I didn't have his address or I would send him a dictionary so that he could learn some new words.

And he said, “FY!!! SU!!!”

I laughed!!!

And then I leaned closer and said could I ask one question? How did he get to be so OLD, and not develop any brains??????

He HATED THAT!
And he said, “FY!!! SU!!!” and then again LOUDER. “FY!!! SU!!!”

I laughed!!!

I laughed!!!

We left.

Glad I missed that guy. The ones I talked to were a little more intelligent. The construction thug just barely. He was the one cursing and threatening me, but he couldn't carry on much of a conversation. Another one was a college student who was probably just hung up on the Bush's support of a "gay" marriage ban.

I had a few interesting conversations as well. I'd rather not post the conversation I had with the APD commander on the scene, as he was very polite and I don't want to cause trouble for him. I will be happy to tell you in private, but not in public.

The protesters were a mass of ignorant, unwashed, uneducated, uncaring fools. Being nice and polite to them simply made them more angry and irritated. It was fun.... ;-)

As one protester started throwing insults towards one of the ladies with us, I leaned in to her (and made sure he could hear it) and said "Isn't it ironic that the peace protesters are the ones who are filled with so much hate?"

The best one, though, was as we were leaving. They had been calling us racist and sexist, amongst other things. I asked one of them why they hated Arabs and women so much. One fellow almost popped a blood vessel, "Whata you mean Hate women?" I replied, "Heck, our side's given more women the right to vote than yours has. I guess that means we care about their freedom." I thought his head was gong to explode.

The last thing I wanted to tell you about was the bamboo poles that they hung their black anarchist flags on. They could be put together and they used it as a fence to get in front of us and make it look like they were filled out on both sides.

Unfortuantely, for them, the PW signs were on very tall sticks and they had huge signs that were able to be held ABOVE the other guys flags. They even tried to hold their poles & flags up higher but the PW signs still were higher.

They kept moving their line up in front of us till finally (since the police wouldn't move them back to the other side) the officers pulled their motorcycles up a few feet in front of the sidewalk. that made a little space so everyone moved up. (I stayed in the back)

The officers didn't do anything UNTIL the anarchist moved close enough to be touching the police motorcycles. Then they moved QUICKLY and pushed everyone back on the sidewalk.

The leftists with cameras RAN UP CLOSE and yelled that the officers weren't pushing someone from BOTH sides equally.
The media cameras followed quickly. but it all died down quickly.

All in all, a group of nasty, smelly people.

I'm sure that they all say that "they support the troops"

I didn't see any of that today.

Woo Hoo that was fun today! Great to meet some fellow FReepers too!

The "black flag" creeps were definitely trying to start something, and I think they were trying to provoke US into being the first ones to get into a scuffle. As The Bat Lady explained earlier, they had a long pole (horizontally) with blag cloths hanging off of them, and they used that ensemble to try to block our signs. They kept fumbling around with the pole and several times I was certain they were trying to "accidentally on purpose" hit me with the end of the pole!

Also, I think they tried to push/bump one of our guys off the curb and into the street. Maybe others can elaborate on that one. I saw part of it, but not enough to give a good description.

One dweebus-looking guy (DrewsDad knows who I'm talking about!) at one point crawled under my sign and then bumped it with his shoulders. I told him to get lost and he said, "Are you threatening me?" LOL. I said, "No, I'm telling you to get out of the space where my sign is!" He then said, "You assaulted me with your sign!" Of course, I told him that he hit my sign with his ridiculous antics, not the the other way around. He gave up that attempt.

Oh, and I can't forget to mention the Code Pink "cheerleaders." What a horrid display that was! A group of about 5 of them did cheerleading chants and dances, ALWAYS ending them with all of them flipping the bird with both hands!

These same Code Pink wierdos saw a Hummer drive by and screamed like shrews, "F You! F You! F You!" and then flipped the occupants of the Hummer off with both hands. (Of course they didn't say "F", they said the whole word.) They had their faces all contorted in hate too.

I know I'm forgetting some stuff, but thought I'd post this for now.

I told him that if he carried anything out like that, that he would be brought to justice sooner or later and ruin his life as well.

You could have told him he'd be sorry (not that he already wasn't) while "adjusting" your belt near the small of your back, or your left side (if you are right handed). Might have been fun to watch the blood drain from this face.
