I'm guessing that asking her to move the car is not why she pepper sprayed him.
That's exactly the point most of us are trying to make:
They had an arguement. She told him to shut up. She pepper sprayed him.
It is fact that she did something wrong. We don't know everything the kid said, but there is nothing written saying he did anything wrong. You assume some type guilt on the kids part, we reserve judgement.
I hope this woman enjoys paying for this kid's college education at whatever school he chooses, as well as buying him a new car, perhaps a house, a new wardrobe, and lots of pocket cash for years to come. And she can enjoy the fact that he's free while she's spending a few months in a cell for assaulting him. Perhaps next time she's in the same situation, she'll think before reacting, even if the situation involves (gasp!) teenagers.
Hi contemplator
Thanks for bringing up a very good point. The concept of "Respect isn't given, it has to be earned" seem rather backwards to me.
It assumes that any new person you meet can be treated with disrespect because they have yet to earn your respect. Not the best way to treat someone you have just met.
One the other hand, it has been my experience that when you treat people with common courtesy and respect (giving respect that hasn't been earned) that courtesy and respect is returned to you.
If the 16 year old in question, was initially respectful and still got pepper sprayed, I say throw the book at the lady. If the 16 year old was belligerent and disrespectful, I still say the lady was out of line, but I can understand her actions.
Best Regards
Sergio
Hey Jokelahoma, I have a new name for this thread.
Take you average, random 16 year old - guilty or innocent?
We do know that the kid was not charged, whereas the woman was charged with assault and battery. No one is buying your BS.
Of course I'm using a little of the old sarcasm here.
It seems some folks don't need to hear anything beyond the fact that the kid was 16, & that pretty much wraps the guilty verdict. Facts, or lack thereof, who needs those?
Unless MA changed the law, stealing a car for a joy ride is considered a misdemeanor.
(Got to protect those juvi delinquents...)
Concerning snowballs at vehicles, I believe Virginia treats that as a felony.
The problem is that schools no longer teach actual history. About 25 years ago, I remember kids were
dropping rocks off an overpass in Andover on to cars on I-93. One went through a windshield and brain
damaged (iirc) some unlucky woman, who died a couple of years later as a result.
What 'options' are you referring to?
call the cops, yeah right. IF shes still there 30 min - 3 hrs later, theyd prolly lock him up for taunting her into pulling her concealed weapon.
All other 'options' mean that he gets sprayed, at least. Not to mention that this bi!ch would screw him completely if he tried anything 'physical' like moving her or her car out of his way.
He really shouldve taken the spray from her and emptied the can in her face.
Days like that, Id be glad to be in my truck, block IT in...
Exactly why SHOULD HE NOT DEMAND HIS FREEDOM ???
In your opinion, he should just neuter himself and play 'feelings' with a pyschotic bitch, or run to his big brother to solve this messy little freedom dispute.
those are only options in your little social-utopia, not around my world...
Thanks for your comments. The restructuring of that concept was something I mulled over for a long time before I settled on something I was happy with. I didn't like the original version for the exact same reasons you mentioned. As the old saying goes, 'Even a blind squirrel finds a nut now and again'.
Even as a 16 year old I knew the constitution and no where does it say I had to shut up when anyone told me to except maybe a cop or fireman. But some nutcase female? I'd have told her to move her f-ing car or I'd call a cop. Then I'd start yelling at the top of my lungs at the witch.
so much for expectations, huh?
Here's how I deal with rowdy kids
Did I say that? You don't even know how I feel about firearms do you? My comment was to convey the idea that pepperspray can be very harmful and should not be used without caution.
There was no hatred for the military in our Academy. It was run by Veterans who are now cops.
My method "says it all"? Whatever, Dude.
You go on believing that all Marines (and other combat rates in the military) are impervious to pain. I, for one, have seen differently, as I'm sure most of you combat veterans have.
Joe... you might realize that it's not U.S. constitutional law that will regulate this thing anyway. But... hey.... I'm glad that you as a young 16 year old was well versed on your constitutional rights.
No it's my opinion that he's a mouthy 16 year old who could take a little pepper spray in the face.
That's my opinion. And if I were on his jury.... I wouldnt give him any money. It's not like he was a completely innocent victim in this thing.
I don't disagree with that statement at all. But apparently he wasn't up to the task. And if that's the case.... then he would be wiser to learn now to stay out of peoples faces and shut up when some old tells him to.
