Schiavo Spokesman Randall Terry calls for Gov. Bush to use Constitutional .. Gov. appears unwilling!

Posted on 03/24/2005 7:13:56 AM PST by 1stFreedom

Spokesman Terry calls for action:

We need EVERYONE READING THIS EMAIL to call Governor Jeb Bush RIGHT AWAY, and ask him to do one simple thing:

"PLEASE EXERCISE YOUR LEGAL AUTHORITY, AND TAKE TERRI SCHIAVO INTO PROTECTIVE CUSTODY RIGHT AWAY."

+++++++++++++++++++++++

ALERT: Wednesday was a rollercoaster of emotions for us, here in Tallahassee, Florida.

We've lobbied the state Senators HARD this past week, trying to get just three swing votes to come our way. On Wednesday, the bill that could have saved Terri Schiavo from being starved to DEATH was defeated... by just three votes.

There were a number of Senators who told us they were either with us, or would abstain from voting... but they LIED to us, and voted against the bill. It was a disgusting display of politics, while this woman lies dying.

But there was GOOD news, too.

At 2:00pm, we got a meeting between folks from RightMarch (William Greene and our attorney, Larry Klayman) and Governor Bush's chief counsel (his top lawyer on staff). We presented information on why the Governor has the authority RIGHT NOW under Florida Law and the state constitution to take Terri into protective custody NOW, and save her life.

One hour later, Gov. Bush held a press conference announcing that he believes he has the authority to take Terri into protective custody.

That was GREAT news... except, he DIDN'T DO IT. Instead of stepping right in and saving Terri's life, he waited until Judge Greer (who ordered Terri to be starved to death) issued an order forbidding the Governor or his agencies to get involved.

This is OUTRAGEOUS. Governor Bush needs to step up to the plate NOW, and exercise his constitutional and legal authority NOW, before Terri dies. But he doesn't seem to be willing to take that chance and do it... so we thought we should help encourage him.

So once more, we need YOUR help.

That's all we're asking you to do. Just call Gov. Bush NOW and beg him to save Terri's life.

TAKE ACTION: PLEASE call Governor Jeb Bush's office NOW at 850-488-4441 (or fax him at 850-487-0801), asking him to exercise the executive powers he ALREADY HAS, and take custody of Terri Schiavo to save her from being starved to death.

We've already met one-on-one with Gov. Bush's General Counsel lawyers, showing them point-by-point exactly why the Governor DOES have those powers right NOW. On Thursday, we're also bringing in Alan Keyes and Larry Klayman to try to meet with the Governor and urge him to take Terri into protective custody. Call Gov. Bush NOW and ask him to USE his legal powers to save Terri's life. You can also e-mail him at jeb@myflorida.com .

You can also call his brother, President George W. Bush, at 202-456-1414 (or fax him at 202-456-2461). Leave a message for him that he AND his brother both have the authority to use the police services at their disposal to take Terri into protective custody, restore her food and hydration, and arrest anyone who would interfere. You can also e-mail him at president@whitehouse.gov .

For the sake of Terri's life, we CANNOT afford to wait while the courts bicker over jurisdiction -- and we CANNOT let little two-bit judges order the Executive branch to not do their duty.

NOTE: We are also asking you to give a donation to help with the effort to save Terri's life. Battles cost money; resources cost money; media costs money; I could go on, but you get the picture. I am asking you to show your support by making as generous a contribution as you can to this effort. (Gifts are not tax deductible.)

https://secure.cartlight.com/merchant/rightmarch/?afid=tj

Thank you for your concern, your prayers, your efforts, and your support. Together, we can prevail against judicial tyranny, and rescue Terri Schiavo from a cruel death.

Please keep us in your prayers.

Be sure to send this Alert to everyone you know who wants to help save Terri's life. Thank you!

Sincerely,

William Greene, President RightMarch.com

Randall Terry President, Society for Truth and Justice

If Gov Bush does not act I will be very disappointed in him. Back in '02 I somehow got on the FL GOP's mailing list so I got a lot of fundraising letters. I sent a few $$ to Jeb's reelection efforts. They won't get another penny from me after this whole fiasco. If the Repubs lose control of the state legislature next year, they will have had it coming.

He may have already damaged it beyond repair with the attempts to get around law and good sense. While children are dying in Florida from murderous killers and the child services bureaucracy nothing happens but when it is time for political grandstanding he and the legislature look like trained seals jumping thru hoops. Disgusting.

Randall Terry wants money. Figures.

I heard where Terri's estranged husband has a $5 million book deal in the works upon her death. Pretty ugly stuff, IMHO.

Why hold a man who is doing something, to try and save Terri's life, in comtempt? You think driving to the Fl. state capital cost nothing, do you think it cost nothing to eat, do you think it cost nothing to do research in this case.. etc.. etc..

Where did you hear that? Do you have some sort of source for this information? There are a lot of false reports being made on this matter.

If you have a source, please post it, so we can check it out.

How can you possibly equate people following the law in a case such as this to the RAPE AND MURDER OF A CHILD!?

A good sense of perspective is everything.

This IS his political future.
This is San Juan Hill.
This is the Boston Police strike.
This is the Lincoln-Douglas debates
Rolled into one.

Courage.

I have a big problem with Randall Terry (I used to work with him on occassion, BTW) and his new marriage.

However, let's not shoot the messenger. The family asked Randall to be the spokesman and lead the effort.

When this is over, then we can address this problem.

Very unfair statement.

Jeb Bush and President Bush have gone above and beyond to help this woman - probably at a cpolitical cost to them (not that it should matter).

For you to blame the Bush brothers and imply otherwise is pure DU/seminar caller tactic. I suppose your next sentence will be "I will never vote Republican again...."

This is not a police state. I am a lone citizen that has done all I could. I wrote letters, exchanged info, called interested parties and prayed. I will not go down to Florida armed to kidnap this woman. We are still a country of laws. Don't like the laws, vote new politicians into place. Sounds like your idea of revenge is to vote HIllary into the Presidency. That'll show them!

Attacking Jeb Bush isn't helping Terri's cause. I wouldn't donate money to Klayman or Randall for any reason. Money can be donated thru other avenues for Terri. One of the reasons I stayed off of the Terri threads for months was this kind of bullying and threatening and uncalled for insults.

you would think THIS case would be the HILL THAT WE DIE ON.....seeing how this is a precedent setting case where poor, disabled people can be hauled off their feeding regimes and just let die, and let die in the worse, loneliest way....

I am sure next week the USCCB's will be right on it, just as they have been right on abortion all these years.....

but first though, we have to stop all those buthcers from killing those murderers and rapists and child molesters.....

If you have children, do not support their decision to marry UNLESS and only UNLESS their fiance/fiancee agrees to sign a waiver that, in in the event that your married child is so incapacitated that they can't make their own health decisions, that YOU and NOT the spouse will be the sole guardian. If your child and his/her intended do not accept this agreement, do nothing to support their wedding (pay for it, attend it etc.)

That is the most ridiculous thing I've heard in a long time. If my parents ever said anything like that to me I would tell them to f-off.

If you have a source, please post it, so we can check it out.

I wish I did.  I have Fox News on all day every day and spend a lot of time at my computer.  Fox was interviewing a man a few days ago and I believe it was this man (unknown to me as I have my back to the TV), and the $5 million book deal was mentioned.

I realize a lot of stories (both true and also bogus) being put forth and it's hard to decipher the truth from the lies.  If I do hear this book deal report again, you can bet I will let you know.

My prayers are truly with Terri and her family.  I just pray that the good Lord takes this in His Hands real quick and does something for Terri, one way or the other.  It pains me so much and I am only on the outside looking in.

If he doesnt save her he can sign off his political future - this is about whats right, let history decide if he has the power - was Lincoln worried about suspending the constitution and confronting SCOTUS at that time? NO - and he is on the top of the list of great presidents.

You don't think that it is quite possible that you would share your innermost thoughts and desires about the most personal things in your life, including your view on how you would like to die if it ever came to that, with your spouse and not with your parents? Give me a break.

Not surprising. Chief Justice Rehnquist, though a conservative, is a strong protector of the judiciary's turf. This case is complicated, and would either have to be re-tried before the High Court, something I imagine no justice, liberal or conservative, would want, or the justices would have to be another rubber stamp of the state court of original jurisdiction.

The ball remains in Governor Bush's court. For the Bush brothers, this could be a Profile in Courage moment or a Chappaquddick moment. It is looking like it will be the latter. The GOP had better prepare for negative electoral fallout.

Yea. I'll get right on it.

If your child refuses, you'll have exactly the same leverage as before, with the added benefit of having completely aliented your child. YOu'll be sure to have lots of one on one time with any grandkids that may come about.

Perhaps it's time to regain some perspective and think your decisions through. Just a thought.
