DUBAI - A shadowy Islamist group which claimed it carried out last weeks suicide bombing in Qatar said in an internet statement it was responsible for an oil refinery explosion in Texas that left 15 people dead.
It was a new kind of operation as we promised before, said the Jund al-Sham Organisation (Organisation of Soldiers of the Levant) in the statement posted on an Islamist website and dated March 24.
Jund Al-Sham is able to attack with an iron fist all the enemies of Allah wherever they are, added the statement, whose authenticity could not be verified.
This operation was a big surprise, which we spoke of in other statements, and we will continue our suicide operations inside and outside America, and we will attack the economy of America as America did the economies of the Muslims, it added.
The group also threatened to carry out attacks in Britain and Italy, and said these would continue until the last soldier of the Crusaders or Jews is no longer in an Islamic country.
The US Federal Bureau of Investigation has rejected claims purportedly from two Islamist groups of responsibility for Wednesdays blast, which rocked the third-biggest petrochemical complex in the United States, run by British multinational BP at Texas City.
Weve found no evidence to support criminal or terrorist activity, Al Tribble, spokesman for the FBI office in Houston told AFP on Thursday.
He said he did not know the names of the groups, which made the claims through e-mails.
BP said the cause of the blast was still being investigated, but has ruled out terrorism.
Jund Al-Sham said it carried out the suicide car bombing near a British school in the Qatari capital on March 19 which killed Briton and wounded 12 people.
The group has also vowed to carry out attacks on oil installations, churches and Western military bases in the Middle East.
The group has also claimed responsibility for an attack targeting Israeli tourists in the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Taba last October, which killed 34 people and wounded more than 100.
That attack has been claimed by at least three other Islamist groups.

Unlikely. It's easy to claim every accident as their responsibility.
IIRC, some "group" also claimed to be responsible for the Northeast blackout a couple of years ago.
We will never know the truth about this...never. Keep in mind Flight 587 as well...and the b.s. we were handed with that.
. . . in other news, this same group claimed responsibility for sinking the Titanic, both space shuttle disasters, and the television/recording career of David Hasselhoff.
Let's take credit for an accidental explosion and call it ours - yeh, that's the ticket.
Dopes.
These boys should go back to poking on the houka.
I am not gonna say they did or didn't do this because both you and I and every other Freeper knows 2 things. This would show the immigration issue right on Bush's front door step in Texas and number 2 this would mean that terrorists are still amongst us and the Democrats and Michael Moore think that is all hype and lies.
I think the Green Party and the DNC were actually cheering at this explosion to be honest with you.
Just a thought to ponder.
Even if this were just an accident, it should be a wake up call to our vulnerability in the energy sector, not having built a new refinery in about 2 decades despite massive increase in the consumption of refined oil products.
Good point - agreed - they're clapping under the table on this one.
Group claiming Qatar bombing says it carried out Texas BP blast ping.
Yes, good point. Let's hope we wake all the way up on this one.
How do we know it was not a shoe bomb? Like the shoe bomber who was busted in the act, how do we not know 100% that 587 was not a shoe bomber? If Reid had blown his plane up over the ocean as planned you bet your ass the FAA would have said it was mechanical failure. TWA 800 comes to mind right away.
Again, not saying these morons did this in Texas, but my days of blindly accepting government excuses ended sometime around 6th grade.
...and back-track some "chatter"...
hhehe, think this sounds like a terrorist group that is just trying to take credit for an accident. "We did it we did it...see we're legitimate! Now maybe al-Queda will take our membership application seriously."
Morons.
You're right about that. I had it out with some libs on another forum and they're happy as can be because it will "hurt Bush, Cheney, and Halliburton". Of course how they arrive at that conclusion is beyond me.
ROFLMAO!!!!
Join our group and help blow up the world!
The 9-11 WTC attack would have been written off as a severe accident had it not been for that pesky second plane hitting it as the Nation watched the morning news programs.
[Check how the facts about OKC/Murrah is still buried by Gorelick's wall. Tinfoil alert? Maybe...]
1) This is a huge problem, considering the amount of people still coming over the border every day.
2) Was there ever any doubt that there are terrorist cells in the US? Who ever said they all pulled up stakes and left after 9/11?
It's unlikely that this is due to terrorists. We have accidents in Houston all the time and we're used to it.
The money Hasselhoff has made with Knight Rider,Baywatch and his recording career in Europe...I have to say that would be a successful group taking care of him then. He is a multi-millionaire beyond the average thinking rational human being.
It doesn't make it right in any means,I mean the guys sucks big time. But he had 2 massively successful TV Shows in the USA and for him to top that off with sellings millions and millions of albums in Europe....he has managed to bank on the world.
Crazy.
Accidents do happen.... Also terrorist could come into this nation besides the border.. They come in my boats and planes.
Looks like these guys want some attention again!
Whoever said?
"The threat of terrorism has been exaggerated, there is no terrorist threat"-Michael Moore 2003.
Fahrenheight 911 Box Office Gross-200 million dollars,DVD Gross-90 million dollars...Cable/Pay-Per View rites-50 million dollars.
That is a lot of people who agree with him.
What is,....'BP'.....?
BP is probably British Petrolium.
It's like saying you personally were responsible for colorful aerial explosions over a ballpark on the 4th of July.
BP=British Petroleum. Next they are going to be claiming they caused the tsunami to deal with wayward Muslims. Accidents happen, especially with highly explosive materials like you'd find in the petrochemical business.
They have been doing that for some time now.
LMAO
? I don't know what it really means either....
Actually they blamed that one on Bush/India doing secret nuclear testing underwater.
Was that the flight where a shoe bomber got up into the tail section and blew the vertical stabilizer off the plane within seconds of take-off?
Also, when looking at the vertical fin, there doesn't appear to be any burn marks or evidence of a violent breakaway. The fin simply tore away right at its connection points. Had a bomb caused it, there would have been pieces of the fuselage still attached. Instead the break away very clean with only a few small bits of metal still attached.
It couldn't have been terrorism. The perps would likely have come from the southern border to get into Texas and we all know how impossibly difficult that is!
This same group has just claimed responsibility for rainy Mondays, the Cubs ongoing failure to win the World Series and the career of Ashlee Simpson.
I heard on a local radio broadcast that there was speculation that a maintenance crew may have set this off.
My immediate reaction was; How many ragheads were on the maintenance crew?
Actually, I saw a streak of light from a grassy knoll just before the explosion.
British Petroleum Company based in Texas City, Tx.
(See the picture above at the beginning of the thread).
"How do we know it was not a shoe bomb?"
It would have taken one mighty big shoe to cause the damage that blast did.
Exactly. Didn't they just lately discover that their was an illegal working through a temp agency at one of the nuclear plants?
They are a sham alright - probably two pimply teens at a computer in Kuwait taking credit for stuff in between porno downloads.
Did they also claim responsibility for the explosion and fire at the same plant last year??
The plant was fined last year for safety violations after that incident."I think the Green Party and the DNC were actually cheering at this explosion to be honest with you."
Doubtful, as this may mean an increase in fuel prices for their SUVs...
