Now that is a change! The mulla's are losin' it!! The more brutal this repression, the more determined the protesters get.
Freedom like in Iraq calls. This IS Bushes fault.
BUMP IT!

In areas of northern Tehran, people chanted slogans directed at the U.S. administration: "Bush, Bush, support, protection..."
If the Iranians are against military strike from the United States, and they ask for protection, how can it be done? What are the Iranians asking for? Military strike? No military strike and only diplomacy? Support the MEK that is sometimes told to be popular and sometimes told not being popular?

[People chanted: "Death to those who kill our freedom-fighters. Death to a puppet parliament; Death to armed despots..." and with this, the revolutionary guards and mercenaries and anti-riot guards continued attacking people with tear gas and various other forms of restraint.
In areas of northern Tehran, people chanted slogans directed at the U.S. administration: "Bush, Bush, support, protection..."
Upon hearing these slogans the revolutionary guards stormed the protestors but the enormity of the crowd alarmed them into recoiling down the street to join their core of their street command units; these units were comprised of knife and machete-wielding career criminals who began stabbing and slashing people. This however did not stop people from continuing the anti-regime slogans. They repeated: "Referendum, referendum instead of your phoney elections...we want no mullah, nor sheikh, we curse YOU, Ruhollah..."]
I thought it would take a LITTLE longer than this, but it seems to be happening already. I posted this comment (which mirrors what many others are saying) just yesterday:
[if the Mullahs keep this up, they are likely going to find themselves dragged out of their mosques and palaces by their ankles and hung upside down from light posts by several million angry citizens wielding pitchforks and bats.
This situation is ripe for boiling over, especially with the newfound freedom and democracy taking root in the countries around Iran, and if they can transition to democracy without military intervention from another country, then so much the better for everybody.]

If Iran regime was to fall, what will be the favored and best for Iranians to have in power? 1)President Khatami's faction 2)PMOI/MEK/NLA 3)Soccer team members of Iran 4)A mix of the above 5)Others.

Wow! These people really have a LOT of courage. It seems like things are ready to explode before long. Hopefully they can throw the Mullahs and their helpers out of the government....out of the country! Prayers are sent for their success.

The people do not support Khatami he's got about 15% support and MKO/MEK have about 5%. The people support a secular nationalistic government - most student groups have called for international referendum on the future of the regime.

I realize your question is a valid one pertaining to the important details of a complex political situation, but;
The hundreds of thousands of people in the streets don't care about that right now. All they are thinking about is getting rid of the oppressive regime that exists now and THEN they'll worry about replacing it with an accountable elected government.
Personally, I like 3)Soccer team members of Iran, plus 5)others

Mostafa Piran Released from Prison
Mostafa Piran, one of the brave leaders of the teachers' movement, was detained last summer, 5 July 2004, and transferred to an unknown location. Later it had been known that Mostafa Piran was captive in solitary confinement cell 7 of Evin prison. He was charged on resisting authorities' orders during a raid in which the Piran's private residence was stormed and looted by Islamic authorities.
Following his arrest, Mostafa Piran was subjected to brutal beatings by plainclothes agents of the regime. He underwent a series of interrogations where he was subjected to physical and psychological torture.
On March 19, one day prior to Norouz, Mostafa Piran was released from prison.

Persian Satellite TV is suffering. There are now only 2 Iranian-American run politically anti-Islamic Republic satellite tv stations that beam into in Iran. All the others beam either music or educational programs. Our government failed to send funding to pro-American, pro-Democracy stations in California, but why? Pro-American stations that beam into Iran have been shut down due to lack of funding, but a new pro-Islamic Republic station funded by the Iranian government has opened and virtually all the stations have become apolitical.

Wasn't this part of Santorum or Brownback's bill?

I found out about Dr. Froud Fouladvand's "Operation Thunder One" for an armed resistance on the blog. How is this viewed by Iranians, and how much influence and popularity does Dr. Froud Fouladvand have? Will the majority of Iranians support his call for an armed resistance?
