Burger King Sandwich Packs the Calories
My Way News ^ | 3/28/05

Posted on 03/28/2005 9:43:01 AM PST by areafiftyone

MIAMI (AP) - Burger King began offering two new breakfast sandwiches Monday, including one that packs more calories and fat than a Whopper.

The Enormous Omelet Sandwich carries 730 calories and 47 grams of fat and comes with two eggs, sausage, three strips of bacon and two slices of melted American cheese on a bun. It's heftier than a Whopper hamburger, which weighs in at 700 calories and 42 grams of fat.

Officials at Miami-based Burger King Corp. said that healthier choices are also available, but surveys showed customers wanted bigger sandwiches.

"By expanding our indulgent breakfast sandwich menu, Burger King restaurants now offer even more alternatives for our guests who want a convenient and filling breakfast," said Russ Klein, Burger King's chief global marketing officer.

The other new breakfast item, the Western Omelet Croissanwich, is a lighter pick with 320 calories and 17 grams of fat. It has fire-grilled onions, ham and melted American cheese inside a folded egg on a croissant.

The omelet sandwich will stay on the menu at about $2.99, but the Western sandwich is in stores until May 8.

For an extra buck-99 you can top that off with a side of haggis and a tall glass of 4% milk. Ummmmm, that's good coronary.

All they have to do to make that sandwich nearly perfect is to cut back on the starches and sugars in the buns because that's the part that kills people.

What's the carb count? That's all that really matters (though with the fast food bun, I'm sure it's pretty high.)

That is the reason why I can't eat Burger King or McDonalds. I'm a diabetic and I can't have any white flour or potatoes so its no fun for me to go to those places and eat their stuff without the buns.

Went out to eat breakfast with my brother and poured the syrup on my pancakes quite liberally. He said "Do you realize how much sugar is in that"? My reply: As a matter of fact I do. That's WHY I eat it!

life imitates art. remember this, from The Simpsons? . . .

“We take eighteen ounces of sizzling ground beef, and soak it in rich, creamery butter, then we top it off with bacon, ham, and a fried egg. We call it the Good Morning Burger.”

Look, the salads are fairly good, particularly the one with the hot shrimp.

So, I go to Burger King regularly. Now that they've increased the size of the breakfast sandwich, I may go there and chow down while tossing the dangerous bun away.

Some of them will give you "extra tomatoes", but some of them don't ~ just an extra piece. I think they should add tomatoes to the side order list.

43 grams is roughly the equivalent of 4 pieces of bread. Still, there are those sesame seeds, and they are pretty good for you. What I do is nibble the seeds off.

Most folks don't realize that all that extra blood sugar drifting around drives up your triglyceride count. I dropped mine 300 points in 2 months after I gave up all starch!

Diabetics are well advised to avoid the buns, and non-diabetics ought to think about it.

Me too. I'm a diabetic and I don't eat bread and if I do its low carb (about 5 grams per slice). I can't eat white potatoes but can treat myself to sweet potatoes once in a while. NO Pasta either. Only thing I really miss and it really hurts me is PIZZA!

You're not missing anything. The quality of the bread in BK buns is just awful. As soon as juices from the burger hit this material, it turns to a slimy paste and literally disintegrates in your hands. Yuck.

"Hell, I only eat about 1,000 calories a day. My body would reject this."

Why? It's only 730 calories a day. You could eat one a day and lose weight. and think of all the time you would save. All your calorie needs in one fast convenient stop.

People waste so much time feeding their faces with low calorie non nutritious food. It's like they have nothing better to do than eat. sheesh.... what a bunch of cows.
