Small problem with Frist's comments.. with the metal probes in her head, an otherwise benign MRI/CAT scan would kill her. The probes are removed before the MRI.

I'm having an identity crisis today. First I find myself on the same side as Jesse Hi-Jackson and now the Village Voice ... who's next Ward Churchill ... naah

Oh, and the ACLU did everything in its power to violate Terri's civil rights and to murder her, not mentioned by Hentoff. Hentoff mentioned this on Laura Ingraham show. Hentoff stated that the ACLU would never accept such treatment for a death row prosoner. He also stated that they always want more and more review for such case, but were not uoholding the same principles in the Schiavo case.
Hentoff made very astute critical comments about the ACLU.

There are evil hearted and good hearted people in both the conservative and liberal camps. In my opinion, this issue is an indicator of where a person lies. There are good hearted (albeit ignorant) liberals, and there are cruel and clueless conservatives.
This has nothing to do with political ideology, it is a pure death vs. life issue that will affect the future of our society.

I've been waiting for Nat to speak. Although this is not his best crafted column, it comes down where I knew it would, on the side of due process and life. He is an honorable leftie.

Nat Hentoff has been a stalwart defender of the unborn for years, so I am unsurprised (yet thrilled) by his response to the Terri Schiavo situation. Ralph Nader also has spoken out in favor of Terri's parents. praise God.

Nat Hentoff, a pro-life liberal, has been writing for the Village Voice for a long time. His work also appears regularly in the Washington Times.
Hentoff is always worth reading. Thanks for posting this.

Where were these guys last week? Too little, too late.
I think that after Terri dies, there's going to be an outcry from the left accusing Republicans of being the cause of this atrocity. After all, Greer is a Republican, as is Jeb Bush. It won't be fair to lump all Republicans in, but since when has the media ever been fair?

Hentoff, Lieberman, Jesse Jackson, Ralph Nader -- sane and decent liberals on this particular issue.

Yikes!!!!! This is from The Village Voice? Never thought I'd see the day. It's not from the "Village Voice." This is an opinion column by Nat Hentoff, an old-guard liberal who is reliably and consistently pro-life and pro Bill of Rights. I doubt seriously this even remotely reflects the editorial opinion of the Village Voice or the beliefs of most of their staff or readers.
Honorable, reasonable members of the left like Hentoff are an endangered species. The hateful 60s radicals have silenced most of them.
