The second day of Wisconsin's 2004 deer gun-hunting season...a man shot eight members of a hunting camp, killing six of them.
He was a trespasser, and started shooting after being asked to leave the private property.
Rice Lake is a small town where most of the victims lived......

Thank you. I recall now; not being familiar with that area, the name didn't ring a bell.

I'm in.
A man just can't have too many Weatherby's.
I hope the auction go's well. This whole thing was such a tragedy. My prayers and hopefully my money ( if i get lucky ) go's out to the families.

Click the link in post 9, Wisconsin Hunter Shooting Threads and Links. Ladysmith has done a great job in keeping a slaughter that doesn't make the news alive.

Love the Hillary pic. I met her 11 years before you did. She was brilliant, working a crowd, but I didn't take a pic because she was just the wife of some complete dumb*ss from Arkansas running in the primaries. Never underestimate the enemy.

Well, it was in the early to late 1970's, ya know? Glorified secretary was the title.
Started out as a temp. They liked me and hired me full-time. Worked there +10 years. Then my ex-husband wasn't doing so well. We moved away.
Story went from bad to worse - not in my control.
Most in my mind about it:
Best guys ever.

Weatherby is one of the company's donating goods for the auction.
Old Weatherby fan here. My oldest is a 721 Rem chambered for 300WM. It was purchased new in 1942, by my father. It came from the factory chambered in 300 H&H, it was immediately sent to Roy Weatherby, to be re-chambered for his ( then wildcat ) Weatherby 300 Magnum. Thats the way the stamp reads on the side of the action.
Strangely enough i only own 2 Factory Weatherbys, 1 in 300, and 1 in 257, my others are all built on different actions. My favorite is a 257 built on a Sako action with a Shillen barrel, on a custom thumb-hole stock built by Harold Broughton. It's capable of .5 MOA, shame I'm not.
