Insert flimsy, insincere note of sorrow here.

Maybe Johnnie can say hi to Nicole and Ron.

Kinda doubt they'll cross paths...

"If he doesn't stir, you must inter!"

ONZ, that's funny! God bless him, anyhow.

If he ain't alive, you can't revive...

If you don't repent, to Hell you're sent...

On a serious note, let's hope he had an opportunity to give his soul back to God before he died.

"I agree wholeheartedly. You know, I'm starting to agree with Hannity,.....this place (free-republic) is beginning to really become a cesspool of individuals who can't even respect the passing of an individual. It is sliding towards the same value system, or lack thereof, held by DU and that is a sad commentary. Reading these posts about this man's death is appalling.

I agree with you. Besides not respecting the passing of someone, the past few weeks I have noticed just how much people on here attack each other. You can't misspell a word or even post an article without the fear of getting attacked by someone who clearly needs to make a point that they know more than you. We may not like the man, but we all should respect the passing of any individual. After all, at the end of the day he lived and breathed just like the rest of us. IMHO

Johnnie Cochran was the Assistant DA in LA.

Why do you think he was so adept at taking the prosecutions case apart?

His son is a CHP officer.

People cheering for death are a bunch of sickos and lunatics. I am sorry there are so many here.

Yes, society is better off without him. Johnny Cochran has sued me twice - frivolously for huge frickin' sums of money - fortunately to no avail. He chased the dollar all his life, may he rest forever in peace.

Well, read your book to me then. Why in God's name is the world worse off without Johnnie Cochran? What possible reason would you have for saying this?

Because what I saw of him out of the court room told me he was a decent guy. Also he did his job well. If I ever needed a defense attorney, I would hope for one like him.

"Remember the image on CNN of the glorious celebration at an all-black college at the moment the verdict was announced?"

I remember that (Howard University lunchroom) instant the most from the whole OJ circus. The only other instsant since then I remember as well is the Palestinians going wild with joy shortly after the events of 9-11.

Good point. But, you know there are some who just chat with one another and have difficulty getting into another thread. Espcially when you offered some terriric remarks and the thread gets pulled. Thanks for the comment though.

WE REMEMBER JOHNNIE COCHRAN: Star lawyer dies of a brain disorder.

March 29, 2005

*Legendary lawyer Johnnie L. Cochran Jr., who authored the memorable quote “If it doesn't fit, you must acquit” while representing O.J. Simpson during his infamous murder trial, died of a brain disorder Tuesday in Los Angeles. He was 67.

"Certainly, Johnnie's career will be noted as one marked by celebrity cases and clientele," his family said in a statement. "But he and his family were most proud of the work he did on behalf of those in the community."

Born October 2, 1937 in Shreveport, LA, Cochran began his legal career in Los Angeles as a Deputy Attorney for the city's criminal division.  He worked his way through the ranks and was hired as Assistant District Attorney for Los Angeles County.  Cochran left the D.A.'s office to start his own firm, handling both criminal and civil cases.

In addition to O.J. Simpson, Cochran's high profile clients have included Michael Jackson, Reginald Denny, Abner Louima, Geronimo Pratt, Todd Bridges, James Brown, Angela Igwe, Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs and Cynthia Wiggins.

While Simpson's acquittal was Cochran’s crowning achievement in a career notable for victories, the colorful lawyer who looked to Justice Thurgood Marshall as a role model also championed the causes of disenfranchised black defendants.

"The clients I've cared about the most are the No Js, the ones who nobody knows," said Cochran, who proudly displayed copies in his office of the multimillion-dollar checks he won for ordinary citizens who said they were abused by police.

KFIAM640 reporting that they tried to get Fred Goldman on the radio, but he said he would "take the high road"....then admitted he was glad Cochran was dead.
