Beginning last November, the city of San Francisco began a program whereupon clinically obese men between the ages of 18 and 55 could undergo a procedure whereupon approximately 1/2 an inch is removed from each vas and the ends are sealed - commonly referred to as a vasectomy - completely free of charge. The overwhelming turnout led the State of California to follow suit, and now California is the first state in the Union to offer state-funded vasectomies to men who have been diagnosed as obese. ... If we are to make this procedure mandatory, we must clearly draw the lines where physician judgment is concerned.

WWWWWhhhhhaaatttttt!!!!! Unbelievable. Nazi Germany raising its ugly head in CA.
What exactly is the point of this?
***************
What next?
The point is to have less super sized individuals consuming the precious 1/3 of the earth's resources we have left.
self ping
The big question is, how do we return our Country to a modicum of sanity?
Wouldn't a gastric bypass be more practical? Or even a calorie monitoring bracelet. Does this mean that obese woman will be soon be forbidden to have children?
You've got to be kidding.
This is joke...right?
Best Regards
Sergio
(especially by those who may have an agenda)
that sounded better in my head
Dunno. However, the states or cities with lotsa money floating around usually have liberal leftists running the govt layering on tax increase after tax increase.
Insane!
--is that called a "ball valve"??--
When engaging in clinical decision making, physicians tend to value primarily information about the effect of treatments on physiological functioning and disease progression, rather than information about the impact on the patient's quality of life [9-11]
Here we go with quotes form the "Führer-order" again!!!!
"So the question of whether or not sterility is valid and socially responsible solution to the obesity epidemic plaguing this country no longer remains. The physicians' job, as professor M. Sullivan from the University of Washington said, is "to focus on patients' lives rather than patients' bodies" [8]. It is paramount that the overall condition of life for people be improved to the point where poor genes do not hold one back from proper development of fitness and overall well-being. The State of California has established commitment to this way of thinking - and this researcher only hopes that the rest of the nation follows suit."
Sounds vaguely familiar in our warnings to others.....
Why?
Fat guys don't get the chicks anyway?!?!?!
Hell with closing the Mexican border, it's time to wall off California from the other states.
"Ve vill breed a race of ubermenschen! The subhumans will be eliminated, and the sacred Reich of California will rise triumphant!!!"

From the same "Pacific Northwest Medical Journal" site:

Oh, please. You didn't think we'd go silently into that good night, did you? Yep, it's Joe and Bill again. Hi. Yes, this is a FAKE Medical Journal website for a FAKE medical association, complete with a fake voicemail system. Most of the stories and articles you read here are true... Just not that one that probably brought you here. Sorry about that. I know how badly you wanted it to be true (because hey, it wouldn't have made the news under your name if you DIDN'T). Alas, it's not. We made it up. Why, you ask? Well, we're still tired. Once again, we've proved that so-called "journalists" at so-called "reputable news agencies" are so-called "F***ing lazy". It's not like we didn't drop about two billion clues that this particular article might not be full to the brim with medical fact, you know. In fact, we set up a voicemail system to log calls to the Pacific Northwest Medical Association specifically to track just how many reference and source checks were made by you, the mass media. The integrity part of Journalistic Integrity has been left completely by the wayside, and reporters / writers / disc jockeys / what-have-you are simply scraping sites like Fark.com and BoingBoing.net without so much as a verification call. And we, two members of an extremely annoyed American public, are now formally asking that you guys knock it off. We want NEWS, folks. Not ratings. Not sensationalism. Not "I got there first." No one cares about your scoop or your career - what we DO care about is that you maintain the journalistic integrity that you supposedly adhere to in that career. We care that you give us NEWS. Real, no kidding information -- not conjecture and rumor. We're sick of it, guys. And we want you to help us, an incensed American public, get the information that we rely on you for. We TRUST you, and we want you to quit abusing that trust. So here's a bit of actual, no kidding news that you can start with: We're not done yet. Not by a long shot. These little pot-shots at entertainment and social "news" are just the beginning. Bill and Joe are just getting warmed up. And we won't stop until you make it absolutely certain that our job is done. Yep, you have the power here. All you have to do is YOUR JOB. Research the stories you cover, make calls, verify facts. Give US, those who trust you, real information - not just your best guess or your next pulitzer. Joe and Bill (*Edited for language)
Just damn. If you want on the list, FReepmail me. This IS a high-volume PING list... |
Hoax? Prolly, funny part is, why bother cutting the jewels off from the launch tower? They're hauling around the best form of Birth Control going. Pounds and Pounds of flab and the whole world can see it too.
Not to mention, really obese folks have a uhm, lets just say, a disappeared winky.
Oh, it's a hoax.....see post #17
I would think this is a joke.
Especially as "obese" people are not genetically inferior. The ability to store fat easily --- and to have an efficient digestive system --- is an important survival trait for humans.
Most of human history contains times of feast and famine. We are now in a very unual "feast" period. Hence why this trait is so common --- ancestors of fat people lived, while skinny people (with their inefficient metabolisms) died.
One day --- say after a nuclear or biological war --- this trait will come in handy again.
LOL!!!!
I'm confused. I'm on http://pnmj.org/0032205_curing_obesity.asp Where is this disclaimer?
Gotta give 'em points for creativity... pretty funny.
Today it's obesity.Next, people with addictions, mental illness, retardation, physical disabilities,....I recently read an article where a "doctor" recomended estrogen injections to reduce aggression in males.
Disclaimer -- http://www.pnmj.org/last.asp
How about instead of sterilizing these people, we just put them on atkins?
Too much Dr.90210
Eugenics.
Thanks.
For the record, I don't think their pranks are very funny.
Maybe if they had the link to the disclaimer ON THE PAGE with the article.
"I recently read an article where a doctor recomended estrogen injections to reduce male aggression."I hope that was bogus as well.
Good for them.................it's about time the media gets hoisted on it's own petard.
I've been railing against "journalism" by press release for YEARS.............going back to when I was a reporter myself, and that was 20 years ago.
Far too much that passes for news these days is nothing more than a rewritten press release(sometimes not even rewritten). So-called "journalists" do not even bother to call the contact person on the release and ask for further details, let alone ask questions of those not somehow connected with the agency/group issuing the press release.
I agree this is not really funny.........but I think they prove a valuable point - the media in general IS lazy.
I don't think this is forced.
What with the caliber of lawmakers we have running this Country today, nothing would surprise me.
This is a joke??!!
No arguments here. The media is lazy.
But I also feel they are highly irresponsible for not having a disclaimer link from the web page the article is on.
No need to do that, just show them pics of Hildabeast and Janet Reno.
You have a very valid point about a disclaimer link on the same page as the article.......I totally agree with you.
And the media is just as irresponsible for not doing enough checking.....sorry to be harping on it, but it has been a pet peeve of mine for years.
Me too!

In what universe would the story read like that?
