CBS pulls Terri Schaivo obituary which was ready for publication, Monday, March 28

CBS BLUNDERS AGAIN! Read the obituary notice....even before Terri is dead!!

It was titled: "The short, sad life of Terri Schaivo"

It was scheduled for publication on Monday, March 28th, 2005! It has been corrected and pulled, but can you imagine a two-page obituary in all this detail? INCREDIBLE. CBS was counting on Terri's death, pulling for her to die!

YOU HAVE TO READ IT TO BELIEVE IT!

CBS is disgusting.

That being said, obits written before their subject's death are very common.

That doesn't mean they are "...pulling for her to die...".

I worked in TV newsrooms since 1990, and when someone (particularly a public figure) has a prolonged period leading up to his/her death, an obit is usually prepared to pay respects to the departed soon after he/she expires.

The TV term is 'in the can'.

Couldn't think of a more tragic case than Terri's, but this is common.

Micheal Schiavo, who was at the bedside of his wife Terri when she died

This line really drives home how much the MSM decieves the public. They MADE IT UP and reported it as fact. LOL. Hacks.

Weren't they somewhat too hasty with the late Queen Mother's obituary as well? I vaguely remember that they were rehearsing it somewhere and it got leaked...

If they follow their normal practice, AP will release an article Saturday talking about how many people missed church on Sunday because of daylight saving time.

I would not be surprised if there's a continuously-edited obituary document which is set to go at any minute. I've done the same thing with baseball game threads on FR (have a few posts ready to go so I can be the first to post HOME RUN! or other such things).

If his lawyer isn't lying about him being at her bedside until she goes, it isn't making anything up.

The utterly cold cynicism of the liberal news business still blows me away. Terri Schaivo is NOT a person to them. She is an EVENT!

And frankly, news has to get out there. I would have no problem as a reporter writing an obit prior to a person's death.

When news breaks, it needs to go out fast.

Those who say this is bad need to take a look at themselves. Many Freepers compare which news orgs take speeches and other news events first. The news org that gets it on first is considered to have won; just read live threads. This happens all the time. If you think this practice is bad, you need to take a look at yourself first before casting stones on the media. That said, when somebody puts out an obit ahead of time, that is a huge mistake.

Reading the pre-obit, it's hard not to notice the new angle on her collapse back in 1990;

"On the evening of her heart attack, according to lawyer Gary Fox, who represented Michael Schiavo in a successful medical malpractice suit against two doctors who failed to diagnose Terri as bulimic, Terri and Michael had eaten a large meal. One account says that after they had finished, Michael rushed to the bathroom upon hearing thumping coming from behind the door. When he opened it, Terri was lying on the floor."

Entirely different circumstances and tiime than what MS says.

Also, a very telling sentence;

"Despite barely getting by, Terri Schiavo cut herself off from some close friends because her marriage became her life."

The only time I've seen women just totally cut off all friends is when they have a very controlling husband.

whoa. If any Freepers can get in touch with a Schindler lawyer, perhaps this should be brought to their attention.

As I've said here before, I work for a network and I saw a practice drill special report a year and a half ago where the pope died.

Thank you so much for all of this stunning information. If Terri dies, I'm going to devote a great deal of my time toward helping to keep her memory alive, by exposing this man until the authorities in the State of Florida ACT!...and, if by a miracle, she is saved, I will still work to assure that justice is done.

Up to now, there has been no justice. Michael Schaivo was as "truthful" and "believable" as Scott Peterson was, when he was explaining "what happened" to the Modesto investigators. For some reason, Schaivo got away with his acts and is still in the clear.

I also heard that the responding police wrote down "HOMICIDE" on their initial report. What ever happened to THAT?

They write those things ahead of time all the time. Everyone of any importance already has an obituary written. Whoever was updating Terri's obit obviously made a mistake and saved it to a part of the web that was searchable by search engine. It was not posted on the actual website.

That alchoholic Glenn Beck ought to go back to drinking before he strokes out. The guy is losing it.

This is nothing new. The conspiracy nuts have been on this for quite a while. There have been a lot of speculation and assumptions. No FACTS to date to suggest that her husband had any role in her collapse.

It's hard to take you people seriously. You constantly bitch about everything. If I was as unhappy as you I would ask God to take me home. You people seem incapable of finding any joy in life.

They probably wrote a few versions so they can just upload the correct page to their server and not have to worry about editing.
The speed of the internet is the speed of demand.

Sounds like someone at CBS clicked on the 'upload' button by mistake or they could be trying to get their web site in headlines....... but there's enough conspiracies around this joint.

This has nothing to do with a "conspiracy" on the part of journalists, and nobody here is claiming there is one, in spite of your implication.

The criticism of the journalists is the same as usual and it's accurate. They are lazy, incompetent at real news gathering, and they report off of a TEMPLATE. In this case a literal template. They have a standard obituary form that includes some heart tugging scenes of a doting husband at her side till the very end, even if it's complete baloney, and they write that up and sit with their finger on the send button until the instant Terri's heart stops beating when they all sprain their fingers to be the first to get the scoop.

This lacks any sort of journalistic integrity and anybody who points this out is simply speaking the truth.

"I also heard that the responding police wrote down "HOMICIDE" on their initial report."

In reality, at least in the copy of the police report available online, it was routed through Homicide. According to the written comments, it was routed there due to the age and unknown injuries of Terri at the time.

This site has several documents related to this case. Scroll down about half way and there is a pdf copy of the police report (not the original, it is no longer readable, according to whoever copied this).

No. I understand your logic and you wanting to give them the benefit of the doubt. I would too, if this was not CBS. In light of Memogate, it is not unreasonable to assume the worst.
