Jane Fonda Regrets 1972 Visit to Vietnam Gun Site

Jane Fonda regrets her visit to a North Vietnamese gun site in 1972, the actress and fitness guru said in an interview with CBS television show "60 Minutes" to be aired on Sunday.
The actress defended her trip to Vietnam in 1972, which won her the nickname "Hanoi Jane." But she said her visit to a North Vietnamese anti-aircraft gun site used to shoot down U.S. pilots was a "betrayal" of the U.S. military.
"The image of Jane Fonda, Barbarella, Henry Fonda's daughter ... sitting on an enemy aircraft gun was a betrayal," she said, calling the act, "The largest lapse of judgment that I can even imagine."
But she said she did not regret visiting Hanoi, or being photographed with American prisoners of war there.
"There are hundreds of American delegations that had met with the POWs," she said. "Both sides were using the POWs for propaganda. ... It's not something that I will apologize for."

I read (Gary Aldrich's book??) that when one of Clintoon's top goons (Leon Pineeta ??) got married they exchenged rings made out of metal from a downed American fighter jet from Viet Nam.
Sorry for all the uncertainty- I know I read it, I just am not positive about who it was.
I would have thought this would be headline news...

"Another case of too little, too late."
I don't think it's ever to late if sincere, but definitely too little. It remeinds me of guilty plea hearings back when I used to handle some criminal law cases. Often clients would plead guilty and then address the court before sentencing by stating that they really weren't THAT guilty, because it partially that mean old cop's fault and also partly the victim's fault, blah, blah blah. Never willing to take full responsibility for their actions. Judges (at least here in Marion County) usually recognized the lack of true remorse and acknowledgement of wrongdoing and hammered these types.

To: momf
She is doing this now because she's in a new movie coming out "Monster-in-law." Saw the trailer last week. Don't tell anyone, but my wife and I and the rest of the audience laughed all the way trhough. Cognitive dissonance. This movie will do well, I predict and even revive J-Los career. Now that's a miracle at the box office.

Her AA gun pic was just the most visible form of her betrayal of the men who fought and died there.

With that half-a%$#d admission of guilt we are supposed to forget what happened? If she cannot make a proper apology for what was a villainous betrayal of this country from start to finish (not just for the bad luck of having been photographed where she should not have been) then she should STFU.

Time for those of us raised with Christian values to try to put those values into practice. It won't be easy because 30 years is a long time for her to get to this realization. I suppose I can forgive her for being an anti-American lefty dumbass, but I won't forget it.

Violation of allegiance toward one's country or sovereign, especially the betrayal of one's country by waging war against it or by consciously and purposely acting to aid its enemies.
A betrayal of trust or confidence.
Since she now uses the word 'betrayal' herself in reference to her visit to the anti-aircraft gun, she has cut the ground out from under all the leftists who claim that what she and others did was not treasonous. Betrayal, in that context, is virtually a synonym with treason.... I agree with all who say it's too little too late, but still it does seem remarkable to see her now, finally, acknowledge that she betrayed her countrymen!!!
