Schiavo Kin: Parents Not Wanted at Burial
Guardian ^ | 3/31/05 | MICHAEL RUBINKAM

Posted on 03/31/2005 3:02:29 PM PST by hipaatwo

Associated Press Writer

LEVITTOWN, Pa. (AP) - Terri Schiavo's ashes will be buried in an undisclosed location near Philadelphia so that her immediate family doesn't show up and turn the burial into a media spectacle, a member of the Schiavo family said Thursday.

``If Mike knew they would come in peace, he would have no problem with it,'' Scott Schiavo, Michael Schiavo's brother, said during an interview at his home.

After an autopsy, Michael Schiavo plans to have his wife's body cremated and her ashes brought to Pennsylvania, where she grew up. Scott Schiavo said the ashes would be buried in a plot left by an aunt and uncle, but the family does not plan on providing the specficic location for the burial - underscoring the bitterness of the dispute.

Her parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, had fought for years to prevent her feeding tube from being removed, and they opposed cremation and wanted her buried in Florida.

Neither Terri Schiavo's parents nor her siblings addressed the issue of her burial in their remarks to reporters in Florida on Thursday. A spiritual adviser to her parents, Paul O'Donnell, said they plan to hold a Roman Catholic Mass without her body sometime next week.

Scott Schiavo said he received a stream of calls Thursday from people denouncing him. On his answering machine was a message from a man from Texas who called the Schiavo family murderers.

Police made visits Thursday to both Scott Schiavo's home and the home of his brother, William, in Philadelphia, as a result of threats to the families.

Scott Schiavo expressed relief that his sister-in-law's ordeal was over, and anger at those who have attacked the Schiavo family.

``This isn't over by a long shot, We're going to get our name right,'' he said. ``The world is going to know who Mike was, they're going to know Mike wasn't a beast.''

At Terri Schiavo's alma mater, Archbishop Wood High School in Warminster, workers changed a sign that read ``Terri Schiavo, Class of 1981, We pray that you may live'' to ``We pray that you rest in peace.''

I think we are dealing with law-abiding citizens here. But is it against the law to switch the ashes?

You know what, I apologize to you. It's not a personal affront to me just because someone else holds a different opinion. If I can't be civil then I won't say anything.

I don't. Try Scoop 1. This FReeper is an investigative reporter with theEmpireJournal.com. She is amazing. I would ask her, if anyone knows, she does.

Then acknowledge when your sanctimonious "corrections" are shown to be wrong. For example, she did get married in the Catholic Church.

I wasn't sanctimonious, I was curious. Unlike everyone else here, I don't claim to know Terri Schiavo personally. It was a question. 168

Michael is absolutely arrogant and heartless. I hope there is a special place in hell just for him.

Please NO, please; Hell is such a terrible place that you don't even want your worst enemy to rest there. He needs our prayer as well!!!

All I will say is that if the media doesn't follow his every movement ibncluding a trip to PA then they are showing their bias as clearly as possible. I have a feeling Sciavo has concocted a complete ruse: he goes to PA while her ashes are disposed somewhere else. Then when he is seen in PA and confronted, he'll state that her ashes are not with him but had already been "placed" somewhere else. Therefore he'll state, people won't accost his family's burial plot.

If I am right, the fact is he'll create even more animosity and his family's plot will be desecrated (the dead buried there are not guilty and so I in no way advocate such action) and therefore will create fodder for Michael to exploit.

On the grounds that hospice doesn't take you unless your terminal & have less than 6 months to live.

That wasn't the case here. Terri was there for 5 yrs. Why wasn't she in a nursing home.

On the grounds that Medicaid was paying $5000 a month to this hospice for her care.

On the grounds that some of these cast of characters were on the board of directors of this hospice.

I agree that hospice care, whether at home or in a facility is a wonderful thing............just not THIS hospice.

Oh, it is my mom's cousin (not my mom) who has terminal cancer. Thank you for your sentiments, I appreciate them. I am fortunate enough to have a flexible schedule and to live down the road from her so I can help out with taking care of her and taking her to treatments. Tomorrow I am doing some shopping for her. She feels so guilty that we all are doing the things she used to do, as she has always been so selfless of a caretaker to everyone.
She was diagnosed 7 years ago with breast cancer. She had a lumpectomy and then radiation. The cancer came back and metastasized a little over a year ago. We found out after she injured her shoulder and it didn't heal. It still isn't healed (she can't use that arm at all) because of the nerve damage, and that has made matters worse. It's in her liver, lungs, chest and bones. She has been suffering daily with this ever since she started treatment again. The last few weeks she has taken a turn for the worse. Now she can't walk on her own (tumor pressing against nerves in backbone) and is probably going to be in a wheelchair really soon.
It is so hard to see this, and very depressing, but I am fighting the urge to back away because I know she needs me now the most. I have never dealt with anything like this before (I am only 36). It makes all of us so aware of our own mortality.
Each month brings new challenges to overcome. Right now, she is fighting depression and extreme guilt because everyone is bending over backwards for her. I just tell her that for her whole life, she has done the same for others, and that she is worth all the efforts we make on her behalf. The depression part, I don't know how to deal with. I just keep reminding her that her daughter is engaged to a wonderful man and that her son and his wife are trying to have children, so life goes on and she lives in them.
Unfortunately, often when cancer is in the spinal area, it goes to the brain. So I am mentally preparing for this and trying to learn what to expect.
A year ago, my work (I am self-employed) started slowing down. As a result, I have had one day a week to care for her. I believe God has arranged for this. I try to remember this blessing when I wonder why she has to suffer so badly.

Sorry to drop this all on you.

And this surprised you how? The two families have been going after each other for almost 10 years now. There is no love lost between the two families, no compassion for the other side, nobody is going to kiss and make up.

Would you go kiss MS? Follow the money trail!

No problem at all. You won't regret a minute of the time you spend making her comfortable. It's that stuff that is really important in life.

I was just saying this exact same thing to a friend of mine.

If MS allowed Terri to be re-examined, and everyone then agreed she was PVS, we would all be having a different argument.

But not matter what, IMO, she shouldn't have been starved to death.

Let's look back at this...Michael has been called a 'wife beater', 'murderer' and worse by the Schindlers and their spokesmen (the shrill Randall Terry especially and others) and it has escalated in the final days with all of the media coverage. Can anyone really expect him to forget all of this and make up. I am suprised he even will let them know what region of the country the service will be held.
As I and many others have posted before, there will be and is no good outcome from this whole episode...

Would you expect to forget if somebody was trying and succeeding in killing your own daughter? Mmmmh!!!

I once again point out that if you spend seven years accusing someone of being a wife beater, without any evidence to back up that claim, then they're probably not going to invite you over for tea and crumpets.

Terri would often go to work with black & blue marks on her.

Terri also talked about divorcing Michael because of his cruelty.

Michaels first girlfriend, after Terri was put into the Hospice, left him because he was so mean. She in an interview said that Michael would often say to her that if she did not perform certain sexual acts on him he would tell her that he would be better of sleeping with Terri in the hospice.

She left him after a year and was stalked by Mikey for almost a year after she dumped him.

So if that is what he is...a wife beater, then why the hell does anyone take offense to calling him exactly what he is.

If all of this is true...and many people are coming out stating this as so, then we all should be calling for this guy to be prosecuted.

Check out his comments about Terri while she was starved to death.

Folks, the government starved this poor girl to death.

There is nothing we can do for her now, but we must let the government know that this will never be tolerated ever again.

If we don't, then just don't eat the soylent green.

Is that true?

He's never going to let the parents know where he buried her???

Why won't he allow that information?

He is truly evil.

You can know something and still not have proof.

I'm sure Dan Rather would agree.

She went to mass the afternoon before she was mysteriously found lying at HINO's feet. Is that Catholic enough?

Rush was talking about this today.

It's on his website.

Felos was on the Board of Directors of Hospice of Florida Suncoast, which runs Woodside Hospice, for the first year of Terri's five year stay.

He resigned so it wouldn't look like a conflict.

Others are cited too. Go to rushlimbaugh.com and you'll find the story. It's titled media coverup.

It is so sad....michael's days of hurting her are over...and we are here to stand in the gap for the parents.

They now know that WE KNOW and they are NO LONGER ALONE!

What they are fighting down there is HUGE.

I mean it.

And it will all come out as we work together to untangle the people who, through horrific organizations from the suncoast hospice to the scientologists to the incestuous work connections and guardian scams have TURNED the JUDICIAL SYSTEM IN PINELLAS COUNTY UPSIDE DOWN and HEADING TOWARDS HELL!
