One candidate for student body president at North Carolina State University is rocking the boat. A student is on the ballot, not under a real name, but as The Pirate Captain. He even has a platform or "plank." It includes "expanding the bus lines to haul thar peopled cargo to and fro from ACC bouts at the yonder RBC Center." Also, "holding meetin's open to all yae landlubbers."

>snip<

"Voting for someone who wants to rid the campus of scurvy dogs is not really an effective way of having student government," sophomore Christopher Sanchez said. The Pirate Captain was able to get on the ballot because all students need to run for office is a valid student ID number to verify they are in good standing. The Pirate Captain promises to dress more "dapper" if he's elected.

So, did those pirates just swim ashore from a submarine that has already dived? LOL

"The Pirate Captain, whose real identity Technician learned late last night is junior in mechanical engineering William Piavis, appeared in full-costume, complete with a green parrot on his shoulder."

It'd have to be an engineer, wouldn't it? I would know, I was an engineering student once, albeit a failed one.

Plus, who better than a pirate captain to keep track of the expenditures of your pieces of eight?

The pirate sounds a lot like me! He's probably sick of all the typical school body election BS and just trying to make it more interesting. Getting elected would be sort of a booby prize.

I believe Pirates of the Carribean was PG. Good movie too, despite my own personal opinion of the actors involved...

The campaign video for this Pirate candidate has already been shot. It is the final moments of Animal House in which Blutarsky (John Belushi), dressed as a pirate, pulls an Erol Flynn stunt, grabs the girl, and makes off with the Cadillac.

The message is clear when stop action hits the Cadillac and this legend comes up on the screen: "Senator and Mrs. Blutarsky, Washington, D.C." It fits perfectly. And it's free, if no one tells the copyright holder of the film.

Modestly suggested,

Congressman Billybob

Well one thing it showed is what would have happened had Keith Richard decided to become a pirate instead of a Rolling Stone.
