Let me see if I have this right. You don't like people pulling seniority in defense of hchutch, but you're trying to make a big point out of the fact that you were at the original "March for Justice" (uhh...big deal), and I wasn't.
Gee...what's the problem here?

We're putting a rather decent sized waterfall and pond in our backyard, and I'm hoping I won't have geese. I wouldn't mind an occasional duck, but I'm hoping the geese will stay in their nice big pond across the street. Don't EVER feed them, and they might stay away. At that same apartment complex, we had this huge stone pond with those really big technicolor carp in them. One day, I saw a shadow pass overhead, then saw the crane dive in the pond, then - no more carp.

I find no one here who agrees with me 100%. I'm a libertarian who opposes abortion
and capital punishment. I believe drugs should be legalized and don't consume anything stronger than coffee, ever. I think a persons sexuality and life partner are their own business and it should be kept that way, private. I think racism is a specialized form of stupidity and yet I think porous borders are a death pact for the Republic. I don't have a religion but I respect religion to the point that I won't write the name of G-d.
I am convinced no one here agrees with me on these positions 100% and yet I'm not leaving.

A few people may have noticed that I haven't posted as much lately."
Of course people have noticed. I certainly have.
"I don't care for the shrillness and insults, either. I think it will give fodder to those who call us extremists for a very long time."
I agree completely with what you've said. Sometimes I've found it kind of odd, because I suppose I'm "middle of the road" in terms of the debate about Terri. I never wanted to argue with people and I always tried to be polite. I suppose that comes across as wishy-washy.
I wanted to save Terri, though I didn't want to subject her to reinserting the feeding tube if she had no hope of not having it taken out again, if any action taken by GW or Jeb would ultimately be pointless.
I also didn't like arguing with people I knew and respected about such things as whether or not GW Bush should send in troops to rescue Terri (a terrible idea, imo). I just generally said, "we'll have to agree to disagree."
It is true that this site is read by the media. Either despite that or because of that, I sincerely hope people will continue to speak from the heart, try accept each other, take a break when they cannot be civil, and then return to the public conversation.
Including you, hchutch.... :)

Don't take this the wrong way but why didn't you just go on sabbatical when the threads got to you? I did because I could sense my temper getting out of control.
However, I will tell you before you go why the Schindlers embraced anybody who they thought could or might help them. It is because in their minds they were fighting for their daughters life and when a man is protecting his family there are no rules, there is no process and the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Mr Schindler should not be admonished for that, he should be admired, he was afctually quite restrained.
If it had been my daughter laws would have been broken.

Good afternoon.
If FR has become as bad as you say, then you need to stay and try to shepherd it back into the light.
FR is made healthy by input. You can always avoid certain subjects and certain Freepers but you have no impact if you are not in the game.
If that is too much for you, don't let the door hit you on the way out.
