Dead mouse closes Healthy Food restaurant

A famed Lithuanian restaurant was closed this week by city inspectors after a dead mouse and rodent droppings were found in the Bridgeport eatery.
Healthy Food, 3236 S. Halsted, was shut Thursday after inspectors found the feces of mice in areas where food was prepared -- including on a cutting board and in a meat slicer, said Matt Smith, a spokesman for Chicago's Department of Streets and Sanitation. The walk-in cooler also had mice droppings, as well as the decaying remnants of a mouse, Smith said Friday.
City cites rodent problem
The restaurant has had rave reviews over the years and was featured last year on the WTTW-Channel 11 show "Check, Please!" It was cited by the city for having inadequate pest control and contaminated "food contact surfaces" as well as for failing to have a certified food manager on the premises, officials said.
The restaurant's phone was temporarily disconnected Friday, and the owner could not immediately be reached. It's unclear if and when the restaurant will reopen. It has been around since the 1930s.
"To reopen, they're going to have to present us with a revamped game plan for not only rodent control but also housekeeping, they'll have to make all the corrections that our inspectors point out . . . and pass a very stringent follow-up inspection," Smith said, adding Thursday's visit was prompted by a customer complaint.
A Healthy Food Web site says the restaurant has "Lithuanian Style food reminiscent of Grandmother's cooking" and "real home-cooked meals as fresh as we can get it!"

Have they gone A.W.O.L. or something ?

My theory is that they forgot to pay this month's protection money to the Department of Streets and Sanitation.

I have never understood fear of rats or mice.
I wonder if it's a result of evolution, where people who feared rodents also avoided the plague, while folks who thought they made cute pets all died of it...

What exactly is that? That is a mouse that some how found his way inside an Oki Microline 82 printer. He just happened to touch stick his nose right across both poles on the power board. The customer brought it in and didn't even smell the dead stench, wanting us to figure out why his printer suddenly stopped. It took us just about 30 seconds to remove the case and discover the problem.
This printer was out in a fertilizer plant at the anhydrous dispensers. Yikes.

I am electrocuting mice on purpose. I had some in my house and got a battery operated electronic mouse trap. I put a little peanut butter inside the box on the far wall. When the mouse comes to nibble it, he crosses two metal plates. The next morning, I open the box and dump him out.
