TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Legal setbacks for Terri Schiavo's parents continue even after the brain-damaged woman's death.

The Pinellas County Medical Examiner's Office denied the parents' request to have independent medical experts observe Schiavo's autopsy has been denied.

Over their seven-years-long legal battle, Bob and Mary Schindler sought independent investigation of their daughter's condition. They wanted to select a neuropathologist and a forensic expert to observe her autopsy.

The autopsy was completed yesterday. Results are not expected for several weeks.

Terri Schiavo's body was cremated today. Her husband plans to bury her remains in a family plot in Pennsylvania. He is required to tell the Schindlers about any memorial services he plans for her, and where the ashes are interred.

The Schindlers have planned their own memorial service for their daughter Tuesday night in Gulfport.

I don't understand why did the Florida ME deny their request. They wanted a well known expert to just be present. I think the article is biased, because they failed to point out who the expert was that Terri's parents wanted to bring in, because he is indeed a recognized expert.

I heard Dr. Wecht on Jim Quinn's radio show on Friday morning, he stated on the air that he asked for "professional courtesy" to observe the autopsy and was denied.

Does anyone think that with all the important people.. Jeb, the judiciary, the congress critters (state and fed), George Bush involved that a forensic reviewer would be allowed in? Any finding Terri was brutalized (recent or past) or suffered was as bad for all them as for Michael Schaivo.

Sadly everyone thinks that this should just go away like Terri... only faster. It was never to be. To much on the line for everyone involved.

I think only the Schindler's and many of us wanted this to be reviewed or spoken of again.

I am/was 100% behind the Schindlers in their effort to save their daughter from dying of dehydration and starvation. But please cut it out with these over the top Nazi analogies. There was no effort here to exterminate a race of people. It was one person who unfortunately for her had a rotten husband and a bad judge. It was a "perfect storm" of everything going against Terri.

It is disgusting that she was put to death in such a manner. A tragedy. But you are over the top in your Holocaust analogy. 6 million Jews were murdered because they were Jewish. There may be a "slippery slope" aspect here, I'll grant you that. But you make your argument irrelevant with this stuff.
