Police say Natasha Jones stuffed a blanket in baby’s mouth to make it stop crying.
JIM THORPE (PA)– A former Carbon County woman was arrested after police say she killed her 3-month-old baby in September by stuffing a blanket in her mouth to make her stop crying.
Police say this was one act in a string of abusive behavior against the baby, including shakings and beatings.
According to state police:
Natasha S. Jones, 21, of District Heights, Md., formerly of Indian Mountain Apartments in Penn Forest Township, was charged with one count of criminal homicide Tuesday by Carbon County District Attorney Gary Dobias.
Police began investigating the death of Iyahnna Coote after they received a call from Jones on Sept. 23. She told police then that she found the baby unresponsive in the crib.
An autopsy revealed Coote had at least two injuries to the central forehead from some type of impact. Coote also had what’s known as twist fracture on the left leg, commonly the result of violent shaking or twisting. Further test revealed the cause of death was asphyxiation.
Police interviewed Jones again about the injuries and she said the baby frequently cried so she struck her on the forehead at least two times and would shake her in a rough manner to stop the crying.
Jones said on Sept. 23 the crying woke her up and she went to the crib and struck Coote on the forehead. She began to shake the baby again. Later that day, Coote started crying again so Jones stuffed the corner of a blanket in her mouth.
She came back 40 minutes later and found the baby stopped breathing.
Jones was taken into custody in Prince George’s County in Maryland where she is awaiting extradition. She is expected to be transported to Carbon County today for her arraignment on the charge of criminal homicide.

Her cell should be lined with photos of her baby, especially post-mortem. It should be behind thick clear plastic, and a speaker should play a loop of someone saying "guilty in the murder of your daughter" 24 hours a day.
I don't think the ACLU would go for that.

Note to Ms. Jones...BABIES CRY! What if your mother had whacked you in the head and stuffed a blanket in your mouth when you cried...at least this baby wouldn't have had to suffer...perhaps if you cannot handle having a baby then you should keep your knees together.
Like most my first thoughts are on what should be done to the mother but then the enormity of this hits and I feel nothing but deeply sad for a little life that was uncared for and thoughtlessly snuffed out because it made noise. Then I think of the silence I dread in my own childless home and how welcome the noise that sweet little one made would be.

Abortions are so "everyday" people are loosing their lock on how sacred life is. All the people that get abortions are very irresponsible, that's the bottom line.
