Goli Ameri has been appointed by President George W. Bush as one of three public delegates to the United Nations Commission on Human Rights. The 2005 meeting of the UN Commission on Human Rights will take place March 14 through April 22 in Geneva, Switzerland.
The US delegation is headed by former Senator Rudy Boschwitz who has been nominated by the White House for the position of Ambassador to the UN Commission on Human Rights (UNCHR). Senator Boschwitz served in the US Senate from 1978-1991. Former Ambassadors to the UNCHR include Ambassador Jean Kirkpatrick who served in the Geneva post in 2003.
"The United States wants the Commission to better fulfill its mandate to strengthen human rights and fundamental freedoms around the world. I am honored to have been appointed by the president and to represent the United States on the Commission," said Goli Ameri former Republican nominee for Congress in Oregon's first district. "I look forward to actively participating in the upcoming session."
The Commission's annual meeting is an opportunity to focus attention on countries where there are significant human rights problems. The US delegation is also committed to promoting democracy worldwide. In this regard, the United States plans to work with other countries to encourage discussion of ways that the Commission can foster reform in nations that are determined to advance democracy and human rights.
Ms. Goli Ameri is the first Iranian-American to receive a Presidential appointment to this post."
Man, I love this prez!
PING!
You just gotta love this guy. He keeps confounding the left!
Even though I wasnt a huge fan of her's... She ran for US Congress here in Oregon (my district) against David Wu... gave one hell of a fight and dug up a lot stuff on him. I wish her the best!
Next, we need to convince him that the reason the Minutemen exist is because there is a problem with our borders.
Here we go, another hijacking
Well, let's all just email the White House and let him know how we feel. I think he listens, even if he doesn't always agree. If we don't tell him loud and clear, then we can't complain.
Every thread should have a pool as to when one of the thread hijackers shows up. We could use it as a fundraiser for FR.
didn't she discover that Wu had a sexual assault in his past? We need more like her.
So we got a Jewish ex-Sen, Rudy Boschwitz, and an Iranian woman, Goli Ameri. The prez is really hammering home the point to the Muslim world.
LOL, plus... it could be fun :-)
I'll second that!
No hijacking here. And notice, I did not say anything nasty about BUSH and I didn't say it was the end of the world because I disagree with him on that issue. I love the Prez!
OK, No Problem
Agreed. And in that letter we must thank him for all of the good things he has done for America and the world, even if some don't yet understand (Liberating Afghanistan and Iraq especially).
Another knife cut to Iran.
Red6
What a choice! This is outstanding and certainly sends a terrific message. :-)
"and an Iranian woman, Goli Ameri"
"Even more humiliating to Muslim fundamentalist, she's an Iranian *Christian* woman. "
If true, she'll need security. Big time.
What a totally brilliant move. We can only hope that this gets lots of coverage so the Iranian people will know about it.
And the wheels of Freedom just keep on rolling...GOD BLESS OUR PRESIDENT!!
Hopefully, soon to be the ambassador to a free Iran.
"Man, I love this prez!"
Ditto! And God bless him.
This ought to poke a sharp stick into the eyes of the Mad Mullahs!
Sadly, this was announced about a month ago. The coverage is a bit slow.
"Every thread should have a pool as to when one of the thread hijackers shows up. We could use it as a fundraiser for FR."
How about a pool of how long it takes for some idiot to post that another message is off topic?
Or, we could have a pool on who has the rudest reply.
yes she did, Wu held a pillow over a ladys face... sounds like a typical democrap... Wu, Clinton, Neal Goldschmidt... the democrap tradtion continues
This is GREAT news!
What a poke in Iran's eye!
I proudly voted for her last fall.
And the hits just keep on rollin'. If Bush wasn't so dumb I'd have to say he was a political virtuoso...naw, couldn't be...
I see people like you demanding that President Bush order the National Guard to the border and the problem will go away... Do you have any idea how many Guardsman it would take to secure our Northern and Southern Borders?
It would be in hundreds of thousands, and we simply don't have that kind of manpower available. So instead of displaying your ignorance, why don't you head for the border and help the "Minute Men' do what our Nat'l Guard can't.
Just this past week this administration issued an order to all our Canadian border agents that no longer will a simple drivers license get you into the USA, only a Passport will. My point is that it will take time to fix the border problems on our southern border, and simpletons like yourself who bitch and moan because things aren't happening fast enough for you, so therefore you will either sit out the next election or vote for some DOA Candidate as some kind of imaginary statement, is exactly why we still have this problem on our Mexican border.
So you "Shove it" Pal
"You show your colors with an ignorant statement like that, We have had a border problem for well over 75 years, and in the past 4 years this President has done more to secure the border than the past all the Presidents since Eisenhower and yet you refuse to see it."
I live in Arizona. It's not what I refuse to see- it's what I see day in and day out that has me concerned. As for you, there is none so blind as he who refuses to see.
"This is a problem that is far more complex than your single issue mind is capable of grasping."
You sure talk like a tough guy on the internet. Lol.
"I see people like you demanding that President Bush order the National Guard to the border and the problem will go away... Do you have any idea how many Guardsman it would take to secure our Northern and Southern Borders?"
Not too many? It's only taken a couple hundred to perform a blocking maneuver on the Southern AZ border. If local police would deport idiots like the one that crashed into my fiancees car rather than letting them go and refusing to file a report, things might be better as well. Her insurance wouldn't cover it since there was no police report.
"It would be in hundreds of thousands, and we simply don't have that kind of manpower available. So instead of displaying your ignorance, why don't you head for the border and help the "Minute Men' do what our Nat'l Guard can't."
My work requires me to do a lot of travel. In the past month, I've been in AZ for one week. Right now I'm in CT, last week I was in Dallas, the week before that, i was in Costa Mesa. Believe me - if I could, I would. Someone has to pay the taxes that support the flood of illegals that use emergency rooms for primary care, after all!
"Just this past week this administration issued an order to all our Canadian border agents that no longer will a simple drivers license get you into the USA, only a Passport will."
That's not going to stop the people who enter by breaking the law. Big effin' deal. Ironic the BP bumped up personnel levels and issued this order the same week the "vigilantes" hit Cochise County.
"My point is that it will take time to fix the border problems on our southern border, and simpletons like yourself who bitch and moan because things aren't happening fast enough for you, so therefore you will either sit out the next election or vote for some DOA Candidate as some kind of imaginary statement, is exactly why we still have this problem on our Mexican border."
No, we have the problem because we have elected politicians over and over again who have no will to do anything. Squat. Other than propose amnesty.
What can you point to that has been done by W that has reduced border crossings? Nothing. It's getting worse, not better. They are getting bolder. Crime in my fair city is up - the increase in violent crimes is by non citizens. Auto theft, home invasion, all up.
Not fast enough? I hear nothing from guys like you other than that it's too tough, we don't have the resources, it's an impossible task... and at the same time you say improvement is happening, I'm just a whiner because it's happening too slow.
Which is it?
BTW, Admin Moderator, in case you missed it, lemme summarize the personal attacks in MJY1288's post to me.
"You show your colors with an ignorant statement like that," (Calls me ignorant.)
"This is a problem that is far more complex than your single issue mind is capable of grasping." (Now I'm stupid, too.)
"So instead of displaying your ignorance," (Ignorant, again)
"and simpletons like yourself who bitch and moan" (I'm a bitching and moaning simpleton as well, it seems)
My "shove it" was in quotes, it was a joking reference to Theresa Heinz.
LOL, sure thing... Next you will explain the meaning of the word "is"

Ms. Goli Ameri is the first Iranian-American to receive a Presidential appointment to this post.
Here's a recent statement from Goli Ameri.
Not too many? It's only taken a couple hundred to perform a blocking maneuver on the Southern AZ border.
And then what happens?
It depends. ;)
"And then what happens?"
The purpose of the MM project is to raise public awareness about the border situation in AZ.
It's succeeding.
Truce.... We are on the same side.
Cheers my friend, we all want our borders to be secure, we just differ on who is to blame and what approach is most likely to actually fix the problem. IMHO there is no quick fix. We have to approach the problem on a long term basis
Bump!
