In an effort to parry likely Democratic attacks, U.S. Rep. Christopher Shays, R-4, has started to distance himself from embattled House Majority Leader Tom DeLay. Shays, who narrowly won re-election last November, bluntly criticized DeLay as pushing ethics and campaign finance laws "to the very edge" and antagonizing Democrats with his partisan rhetoric.
"He is on the thinnest of ice as far as I'm concerned," said Shays, who noted that the conservative Texan has been reprimanded three times by the House ethics committee. "That is disquieting. It raises huge questions that Democrats have a right to raise."
And raise they have. Two liberal groups are running TV ads demanding that DeLay resign as House majority leader and are urging fellow Republican congressmen to mobilize against him.
The House Standards of Official Conduct Committee reprimanded Delay for, among other things, creating the appearance of giving special access to contributors seeking to influence energy legislation.
A Texas prosecutor has not ruled out indicting DeLay in a fund-raising scandal that has already led to the indictment of three of his political associates.
I'll donate to anyone who runs against this fool.
Screw the POS Shays, RINO.
Ah, Rep. Shays. The lone (R) Clinton defender during the impeachment proceedings.
I hope the Bolshies cream this loser.
Hey Tom, find some way to shut this a-hole up. With "pubs" like this, who needs "dems"?
DeLay better watch out, Christopher Shays may come out of the closet and slap him silly...
Hell, Shays has nothing to say about Democrats stealing documents from the National Archive, lying under oath, inciting to riot, giving aid an comfort to the enemy.......
I guess Democrats don't need "no stinkin ice"......for Shays, Democrats walk on water...
Ditto that, bigtime.
Didn't Representative Peter King (R-NY) defend him also? If I recall he was for censure instead of impeachment, don't recall his final vote as it was irrelevant, we got Clinton impeached, then the Senate failed.
Looking back now on that effort, thank god we didn't manage to get rid of Clinton, Gore would of taken over and would of won the election in 2000. Unintended consequences isn't just for gun nuts.

Hey, hey Chrissy Shays, you sure sound like a stupid craze!!!
Coward, gutless, opportunist, weak, panderer,RINO, empty suit, has been.
Pick any or all. Every one applies to Shays.
I'll donate to an opponent for him in the Primary if anyones lists their name.
If the republocrats want to get rid of him fine. But no dang liberal should have a say in it.
Who cares what a liberal Democrat has to say.
I think WJC's "legacy" is appropriately preserved for posterity. Listening to his comments and then further explanations of his comments throughout the papal funeral just confirms that liars can't change their character.
OOPS.... shame on me, that should be 'rode', not 'road'
Shays is a GIRLIE MAN.
