Fascist Hungary was an ally of Nazi Germany. However, Horty's regime was less brutal towards the Jews in Hungary. For example, Hungarian fascists were murdering Jews in occupied Yugoslavia but did not touch Yugoslav Jews who fled to Budapest.

Berlin's espionage network was well aware of Hungary's peace-feelers and contacts with the West. When Hitler's patience ran out with the conservative leaders in Budapest, Nazi Germany invaded Hungary in March 1944, drastically changing the situation of Hungary and the Jews.

Hitler installed a pro-German government and appointed Edmund Veesenmayer Reich Plenipotentiary. The Nazi invasion lead to the destruction of Hungary's Jewry, which had survived under the conservative government. Adolph Eichmann arrived to direct the deportation of Hungary's Jews so that by the end of June, virtually the entire Jewish population of the provinces had been deported.

Enter our hero, George Schwartz a.k.a. George Soros

In a TV interview, 15.4.93, Soros made the startling admission: "I actually went with him, and we took decisions on these large estates. That was my identity. So it’s a strange, very strange, life." To this day, Soros recalls those as "the happiest years of my life."

That means that Soros worked for Nazis under Eichmann. How he survived the Soviets, is a mystery. His father Tivadar was prisoner of war in Russia in WWI. Chances are that he signed up for Soviets at that time. (another similar mystery is Josip Broz Tito who became Yugoslav dictator)

It would be interesting to check wether George Soros citizenship application contains disclosure of his activity under Eichmann.
