Kurds Prepare for Guerilla War in Iran

May 14, 2004
Gulf News
Phil Sands

Near Sulaimaniya, Iraq -- Kurdish fighters dedicated to overthrowing the Iranian Government are hiding out in the mountains of northern Iraq, waiting for a chance to strike at Tehran. Gulf News gained exclusive access to the militiamen as they trained for a full-scale guerrilla war that could send shockwaves through the region.

Rebel leader Ebrahim Alizada said: "Our armed struggle began in Iranian Kurdistan and will continue until we have freedom."

The fighters are members of Komala, a group of militant socialist Kurds dedicated to bringing down Tehran. Hundreds of young men and women armed with AK47 rifles, machine guns and RPGs are training in northern Iraq for this mission.

Many more are based across the border and group leaders say the rebels are already carrying out "covert actions" in Iran.

These are those Americans killed by MEK terrorists back in 1970s.

---
MKO Assassinations
In the period leading up to the Iranian revolution and its immediate aftermath, the MKO carried out their strategy of armed struggle. The results included the murder of Americans, support for the seizure of the U.S. embassy, and opposition to the release of U.S. hostages. The Mojahedin are known to have assassinated the following Americans in Iran during the 1970s:
Lt. Colonel Lewis L. Hawkins Killed: June 2, 1973
Air Force Colonel Paul Schaeffer Killed: May 21, 1975
Air Force Lt. Colonel Jack Turner Killed: May 21, 1975
Donald G. Smith, Rockwell International Killed: August 28, 1976
Robert R. Krongrad, Rockwell International Killed: August 28, 1976
William C. Cottrell, Rockwell International Killed: August 28, 1976

Reza Reza'i, a member of the Mojahedin's Ideological Team, was arrested and executed by the Shah's government for the murder of Colonel Hawkins. The attacks on the Rockwell employees occurred on the anniversary of the arrest of a Mojahedin member, Rahman vahid Afrakhteh, for the murder of Colonels Schaeffer and Turner. In addition. Air Force Brigadier General Harold price was wounded in a 1972 attack Planned by Mojahedin Central committee member, Kazem Zul Ai-Anvar. Widely credited in Tehran for these attacks at the time, the Mojahedin themselves claimed responsibility for these murders in their publications.

I'd rather Mullahs to MEK terrorists!

The only way to win the war on Mullahs is to support the Iranian people and their desire to be free.

MEK has no commitment to democracy and freedom of my country.

Support students and American loving people of Iran, but not MEK.

Thanks

Reconnoiter and make contact with the snake.
Build dialogue/rapport with the snake.
Win the snake's heart and mind. ('hearts and minds")
Finally, train it to kill all the other snakes.

Iran ping.

No one expects the world to sit back in fear while the mullahs become a nuclear threat.

Expect or not expect, the failure of the Iranian people to fight for their own freedom means the US and responsible countries will have to take the nuclear potential away from the crazy mullahs so that they cannot bully others. It'd be fine if the Iranians would fend for themselves to become a free country, but if all we're going to get from them is pious words and pipe dreams, then men of action will have to act to save lives. If the Iranians cannot accept that, it's too bad. The whole world should not have suffer in fear of a clique of crazy mullahs because doing nothing strikes some in Iran as better than taking out these dangerous weapons.

"The whole world should not have suffer in fear of a clique of crazy mullahs because doing nothing strikes some in Iran as better than taking out these dangerous weapons."

I am agreeing with you that the regime can't have nuclear weapons. That's what I was saying in post #24.

I've searched the Internet and it seems that Komala has moderate support from the Kurds.

Jimmy the Goober Carter screwed up Iran big time back in the 70's.

Carters idiotic outlook on the world created problems for Americans that may never be rectified.

Komala has been a Marxist guerilla movement in Western Iran for 2 decades.
