The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

We now know more about an alleged attack that triggered an increased national threat level last summer.

That's when U.S. officials said they had uncovered a plot targeting financial institutions. The plot involved bombs, banks and British nationals.

The detail was startling, the targets enormous. They included financial buildings in Washington, New York and New Jersey.

Just wanted to check in real quick and say I will be back on TM a lot more shortly. I graduated from the University of Connecticut yesterday afternoon, and am still in the midst of post-graduation family things.

Hope everyone is doing well, and I have added all those to the pinglist who have requested since the start of TM 26 - even if I have not PM'ed you.

I'm looking forward to diving back into the TM this summer, and am very happy it's still here and frequented by many of the long-time people. :)

Thanks neosgirl. It has been an exciting few days. :) I am looking forward to the future and my new school very much. I will be starting studies for an MA in Political Science and I am now looking into getting a BA in Arabic while there as well. The TM continues to be inspirational, and I am thankful that there is such a wealth of knowledge found here.

Iran to resume enrichment-related work "within days"

TEHRAN, May 9 (Reuters) - Iran said on Monday it will resume uranium enrichment-related activities within days, a move Washington and the European Union have warned would see its nuclear case brought before the U.N. Security Council.

"We will lift the first stage of our suspension, which is that of our UCF (Uranium Conversion Facility) project in Isfahan, in the next few days," Mohammad Saeedi, deputy head of Iran's Atomic Energ Organisation, told a university conference, the official IRNA news agency reported.
