He's no longer a "maverick" Republican. He should just declare himself an Independant and be done with it. Hell, it might help his presidential aspirations to do so since his biggest admirers are people who can't make up their mind.

It's amazing to me that the voters in AZ can't find a real conservative to run against this weirdo. I'm glad he's not representing me because he only represents himself. He should be recalled by the Republicans who voted for him because he is lying to them about his party affiliation.

Wait until the votes are counted.

McCain could vote with the dems, the vote with the reps by asking for a change to his vote.

It wouldn't surprise me.

He is against the nuke option, but -in my opinion- will not vote with the dems on this. McCain will show party loyalty. He will not be able to run for president if he didn't support Frist also.

Yes, and no one that knows McCain should be surprised since to support Reps on this issue is to defy those he considers his base. The MSM.

I don't know how many times I'm going to have to shout this, but anyone who is so foolish as to continue holding up this sell out up as a presidential option in '08 needs to defect from the Republican/Conservative movement now. McCain Will NEVER get My vote and that arrogant egotistical traitorous loser had better fully understand a majority in the base have finally Got McCain's number and he is damn lucky his election wasn't in '06 when we didn't have a Prez ticket to fight for. If it had been he would have been Target Number one...for conservatives.

McCain will hold his grudge against W forever. The only primary he won was the one where the Dems could vote for who they wanted to run against!

He's acting just like an adolescent. His "Get-evenism" has completely taken over his brain, what little of one there ever was!

It is a good thing we have some padding in the senate after this last election. The Nelson Dims (FL and NE) will be voting with us too. I think the dims will fail to block Bush judicial nominees (at the end of the day). They are just too outnumbered.

He never shot at an enemy that I am aware of and when captured, he was treated as royalty since his daddy was a big wheel. He is pig shit in my book and I am ashamed to live in his friggin state right now.

Hey, zonies, he lives with his shit head rich bitch wife on North Central with the rest of the "swells". Let's picket him.

I'm a former AZ resident and I'll take second place to nobody in my contempt for John McCain. However, it is his behavior since being elected to the Senate that is contemptible. It's not necessary to trash his Vietnam record - he didn't crash his airplane, it was shot out of the sky, and he was given more attention (the kind you don't want to have) than the other POW's because of his family ties.

Give the devil his due.

"Give the devil his due."

His 'due' is what I said before. Any jerk can get shot down. He received very GOOD treatment according to his fellow POW's who mostly won't bad mouth him because of his position. I suspect that may all change now. Read: SWIFT BOATS.

If indeed, he was a true hero, I will apologise but not until then. I want so see what his fellow POWs say.

No, but he's setting himself up as a 3rd Party å la Perot permanent talk show gadfly. I believe that is where he is headed. And he could throw the election to the Dems.

I've always thought there was a connection. That kind of treatment has to have some serious kind of effect on you. And .. since he finally confessed what they wanted to know .. that kind of guilt can eat you alive.

I also cannot hack his buddy-buddy relationship with Kerry. And now, if he's bucking for the VP spot under Hillary - maybe she should be watching her back.

I did a search on "McCain Vietnam Prisoner War" and while I was able to turn up one (alleged?) contemporaneous POW who claimed that McCain got preferential treatment, I was not able to uncover any contemporaneous reports supporting the McCain-sanctioned hagiography. This certainly raises the possibility in my mind that the official McCain legend is hogwash, though I still consider the issue open, as I've only been able to find one derogatory contemporaneous POW account.

If McCain's POW claims are so widely considered to be fraudulent, or at least exaggerated, by his fellow POW's, though, I'm a little surprised that more haven't taken him to task, in a fashion similar to the Swift Boat vets' treatment of Kerry.

I have to admit that I found it a little unsettling to square McCain's allegedly heroic behavior as a POW with his craven behavior as a Senator, since I've always felt that adults don't undergo major personality changes. Now that you've pointed out that his behavior in both settings has been consistent, I feel as if there is a little more order in my world.

Many here in Arizona consider him to be mentally disturbed. He has fits of rage during which he lashes out venomously at preceived enemies.

The Bushes are in his sights and they have been for years. As a president he would be the "nuke fruit" the dems always considered Nixon to be.

All in all, he scares the sh*t out of me!

I will listen to local talk ahows today and see what they have to say.

When is the Republican Leadership going to smack this Rino assclown down and yank party support and choice committee assignments from him? Trying to deal with McCain is a waste of time. This is clear evidence that the Republican Senate Whip (Mitch McConnell - KY) is useless.

Hence the nickname McInsane.

He has fits of rage during which he lashes out venomously at preceived enemies.

My wife used to be politically active back in AZ and has witnessed these. We even have a picture of her schmoozing with him at some black tie event, which was loads of fun to show to my fellow gun crank friends back when he was caterwauling about the "gun show loophole."
