Eyewitness report from the Arizona/Mexico border from two Minuteman volunteers

April 12, 2005
Didnt go out on the line today. We just did some odd jobs around the camp, whatever needed doing, until time to go to work in the communications center from 4P to 8P. At 8P went on duty at the main gate until midnight. Not as cold tonight as it has been thank God. It sure was cold Saturday and Sunday at night. Thought we were back in Washington State.
Very quiet night at the gate. Not much traffic. Just Minutemen coming and going to the lines. We have established and maintain two sectors. They are the Naco line sector and the Mountain sector. We have this part of the border pretty well shut down. The Naco line is 100% shut down but we still spot and report illegals occasionally in the mountain sector. Each sector is split up into posts within visual and radio contact with each other. We have three 8-hour shifts. Depending on how many Minutemen are on duty at any one-time dictates how many posts are manned.
We have new people showing up all the time. Some come for the week ends from as far away as California and go back to work on Monday. Some come out for just one day. (We call them Minute Minutemen).
Information has it that the illegals are backed up in the canyons in the mountain sector and are running out of food and water. These are the ones that are making desperate attempts to get by us without being spotted in that section of the border. We spot them and report them and the rest is up to the Border Patrol.
I have not met one Minuteman yet who would not welcome any immigrant coming into the US if they come through the gate legally and not under the fence.
It was reported in a local newspaper that 20 million dollars worth of electronic detection equipment purchased for use in this sector of the Border is not being utilized and half of the things. sensors ,etc: that are installed dont work. Some heads should roll over that. As I said before based on what we have observed and heard we are not impressed in the least with the utilization of the resources in the Border Patrol in this sector. This should not be construed as condemnation of the rank and file as we feel they are doing the best job they can do with one arm tied behind them.
The ACLU is getting desperate to get something on the Minutemen and are trying to provoke incidents now. They pushed one of the Minutemen the other night trying to get him to push back. Didnt work. Then last night they walked up and shined a spotlight right in a Minutemans face from six inches or so away. Didnt work that time either. We immediately report these types of contacts with them to the Sheriff to counter any claims they try to make against us. They should be called the UCLU (Un-American Civil Lawsuit Union)
They give us the middle finger every chance they get to try to get us to react. We are still trying to figure out if that is their age or IQ.
The Minutemen received a letter from Congressman Tom Tancredo congratulating us on a quote immensely successful Minuteman project.
By Border Patrol counts apprehensions of illegals are down over 50% so far this month. Mexican military units have diverted migrants east and west away from the Naco section of the border where we are showing that Mexico can control the exits if it chooses to do so. We have proven to the whole world that the border can be closed and that a physical presence can deter illegal crossings.
Do you hear that President Bush??? Close the borders and enforce immigration laws.
For what has President Bush sold the soul of America???

Barb and I took a break off the line today. We worked in the communications center from 4P to 8P and then on the main gate till midnight.
Went into Hereford around noon to mail some letters before going on duty and while parked in the Post Office parking lot making a phone call we were watching a Border Patrol Agent parked across the street at the intersection. After he had sat there watching the gully there for a half hour or so he drove off. As soon as he got out of sight an illegal alien, who was hiding in some brush, came out and started walking down the road. We called the BP who responded and apprehended the alien. The BP called us back and thanked us for reporting this alien. First time that has happened. The policy toward us must be changing????? We hope anyway.
This is the 3rd Illegal we have spotted and reported while we were on the road. Believe me they are all over the place. Locals tell us it is ten times as bad when the Minutemen are not here.
Wrote to our state and federal representatives today demanding they do something about the problems created by open borders, work toward getting the borders closed and demand they start enforcing the immigration laws.
We request that everyone write, email or phone their representative and demand they take action today or youll get some one in there who will do something about it. It is time we demand it not just ask for it. Remember our, and I emphasize our, representatives work for us not the other way around.
After we got off the gate at midnight went out on the line to deliver a radio to one of the patrols so didnt get to bed until 2 A which made for a very long day.
The enthusiasm to make this project succeed by the Minutemen is still very high. We have met some wonderful people here who see and understand the impact illegal aliens are having on our American way of life and are willing to step up to the plate and do their part to help stop it. These Minutemen are from every walk of life and ethic group with one thing in common and that is they are patriotic Americans.
In the Northwest when you are driving at night you have to be very careful you dont run over a deer. Here on the border you have to be very vigilant that you dont run over an illegal alien.
Please!!!!! Mr. President, close the borders and enforce our laws.
do your great ping thing please

Thanks for the updates...
I've been watching the local news in LA(yea right) and we aren't getting any news on the MM...
imagine that! LMAO
The border, Americas true quagmire.
Excellent comparison. Many thanks to all the MM.

Why doesn't Bill O'Reilly get off his butt and go down there and do some real reporting, he wants to make a difference. Sheeze, we need some real press coverage of this.
WTF?!?
He wouldn't be the center of attention. P>Hannity is going down there Monday and Tuesday.
At some point they (ACLU) will slip up. This most certainly shows a lack of discipline in their "monitor" ranks. Not surprising in the least.
"The ACLU is getting desperate to get something on the Minutemen and are trying to provoke incidents now. They pushed one of the Minutemen the other night trying to get him to push back. Didnt work. You guys need to be running the video and digicams every time the ACLU comes around and record them in the act. I'm quite sure that there are outlets(WND and here) that would love to have that kind of footage to circulate.
BTTT
Excellent job exposing what is going on at our borders.
Probably not.
The tactic of provoking, and even initiating violent reactions is an established technique used mainly by the more aggressive union types in organizing and "street protest" venues. You won't have to look far to find an SEIU organizer if this stuff is going on.
The problem is that when the thugs DO cross the line (I've witnessed this personally), the media don't find it newsworthy. If the good guys react, even a little bit, they get crucified.
Happens all the time.
It makes you wonder if the ACLU observers are members or just volunteers of the crud club or are they paid to do the dirty work for the communist lawyers. If they are paid, then maybe some enterprising organizer can get them unionized.
Thanks for the ping. Thanks for the report.
Do the minutmen have spotters dedicated to the ACLU mischief?
I think a few pictues of the ACLU being so anti-american would be invaluable. ESPECIALLY if the offending party is an ACLU lawyer. Assisting illegal activity is disbarable.
You should videotape the ACLU pulling their pranks. Then give a copy of the tape to O'Reilly. Though I don't care for him, he's doing right by the Minutemen.
"The ACLU is getting desperate to get something on the Minutemen and are trying to provoke incidents now. They pushed one of the Minutemen the other night trying to get him to push back. Didnt work. I was not aware of these tactics.
What a bunch of jerks. We've got an avowed ACLU character ((name starts with Har----p) who trolls on the immigration threads. His behaviour and tactics are similar, in a cyber sort of way.
I'm not going to mention his name in full, because then I'd have to ping the jerk, as per posting rules. I don't want to see his blather here.
Thanks for the up-date. I know why the Democrats want open borders....they think this will restore them to power.
For the life of me, I can't see why Republicans aren't jumping up and down screaming to close the damn borders.
You are making history down there, keep up the good work.
How about BUILD A DAMN SECURITY FENCE so the Border Patrol can do their job?
It's not an FR rule, just common courtesy.
I wouldn't have the disposition to handle these sorts of taunts. I'm glad the MMP members are more restrained than I am.
They are getting paid.
Count on it.
Thanks for the clarification.
Regards
LOL i was thinking the same thing while reading this great report. the childish provacations by these freaky ACLUers remind me exactly of the behaviour of the border thread DP's. maybe the DP's are also ACLU observers? i wouldn't put it past that communist bunch to have them here as well.
I would love to see the faces of the ACLU that are causing these problems.
take pictures of the ACLU people trying to get reactions from you. I want to see it.
Thank God for what you're all doing. It can't be easy, and that's putting it mildly, but something has to focus the admin.'s attention on the fact that we're being invaded. If she hasn't done it already, Hill will take a poll and weigh the advantages of allowing illegals to vote versus following the law and protecting our borders. Whichever garners more votes will get her approval. Then she'll talk out of both sides of her mouth, and the MSM will let her get away with it.
Has Geraldo been down there yet? If not, he will.
Minuteman report ~ Bump!
>"these freaky ACLUers remind me exactly of the behaviour of the border thread DP's. maybe the DP's are also ACLU observers? i wouldn't put it past that communist bunch to have them here as well."<
Yeah, well, bookmark this DP quote: (he's also a D-rat)
harrowup: "I have belonged to the ACLU for over 40 years..."

I got to the rally late today so was not able to employ my bullhorn much. I did, however, get to hit the ACLU with one single chant. "Liar! Losers! Traitors! Fools! A-C-L-U, Terrorist Tools!!"
They didn't like that one too much.
Sorry, didn't see this earlier.
You really need to "follow the money" with groups like the ACLU and their "non-profit" activist hangers-on, like the "border action network". The "observers" are, at the very least, having their travel and sustenance paid for. I wouldn't be at all surprised to find that at least half of them are receiving their regular wages for this work, maybe laundered through a cooperative group, union fund, or just directly via the ACLU.
I'm not trying to bash union members, or even all unions, but am merely pointing out that the more radical groups (the SEIU is particularly active in the southwest in trying to organize illegal, er, undocumented workers) use exactly this MO every day of the week. If it walks like a duck...
