D.C. Chapter's 7th Annual Freep of the White House Correspondents Association Dinner 4/30/05

The D.C. Chapter of Free Republic invites all FReepers and lurkers in good standing to join us at our 7th annual freep against liberal bias in the media outside the White House Correspondents Association dinner at the Washington Hilton on Saturday, April 30.

This is your chance to take your complaints and encouragement directly to the media bigwigs (and politicos) in person. Over the years, we've engaged in discussions outside the dinner with the likes of Al Franken, Christopher Hitchens, Matt Drudge, Peggy Noonan, Ann Coulter, Chip Reid, James Carville, Joe Scarborough and many others.

Last year, actress Drew Barrymore filmed us for a documentary she was working on.

Two years ago, the Garofalo Awards we presented outside the dinner were featured on Fox & Friends.

This year, we will be presenting the Faux News Awards to those in the media who ginned up news and scandals with very little or no factual basis. The nomination thread for the awards will be posted shortly.

After the freep, we will continue our tradition of going to the Hilton's bar and watching the dinner on C-SPAN while having dinner and drinks.

When: 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, April 30, 2005

Where: The southeast corner of the intersection of Connecticut Avenue and T Street, NW, Washington, D.C.

Bring: Signs and banners.

Parking, Transportation: Limited street parking is available. Pay parking garages are available in the Hilton (enter from 19th St.) and on Florida Ave at 20th St. The Dupont Circle Metro Station (Q St. exit) on the Red Line is the closest Metro station (about three blocks.) to the Hilton.

As always, the D.C. Chapter's rules for protesting will be in effect. Briefly, they are: no violence, no profanity, no racism, no provocations, obey the law and treat all law enforcement officers with respect.

We have a lot of fun at this one. This has become D.C.'s version of the Oscars: a star studded night filled with wretched excess and pomposity.

I have never regretted living in the "West" all of my life, in Colorado and Texas, until I joined FR!

Between the marches and the protests and such, I miss not being able to participate---there is just so much one can do from Texas if one is of limited funds(which I most certainly am).

Therefore, go and have fun for me and the other Freepers that can't be there!

the Faux News Awards to those in the media who ginned up news and scandals

We could just call it "the dan rather award" for excellence in fraudulent reporting.
