SAN FRANCISCO - A woman who led an effort to help those ravaged by violence in Iraq fell victim to the war herself when a car bomb killed her and two other people, officials said Sunday.

Marla Ruzicka, founder of Campaign for Innocent Victims in Conflict, died Saturday in the blast, which also killed an Iraqi and another foreigner, officials said. She had been in Iraq conducting door-to-door surveys trying to determine the number of civilian casualties in the country.

Ruzicka, 28, of Lakeport, founded CIVIC in 2003 and was instrumental in securing millions of dollars in aid money from the federal government for distribution in Iraq.

"We’ve been very worried about her but we know better than to tell our children not to do anything," said her mother, Nancy Ruzicka.

Hmmmmm . . . .

I am sure that if she had survived she would have blamed US forces for the attack.

Was she fulfilling her role as a "human shield"?

Again and again they say that she was helping innocent Iraqi victims of war.

Yet she was nothing but a slimy pollster doing the work of the insurgents.

To quote the Ramones:

I'm glad to see you
Go go go go goodybye
I'm glad to see you
Go go go go goodybye . . .

Looks like Libs are getting another dose of reality.

Securing $$ millions? Libs must have deep pockets to waste all that money...Oh, the humanity!

I guess if Marla Ruzicka's side had prevailed, Saddam Hussein would still be in power and none of this car bombing unpleasantness by ''insurgents'' would be happening.

I wonder if anybody investigates who gets grant money and I wonder who the money went to in Iraq.

This story was covered by hundreds of posts yesterday. Yes she was a "bleeding heart liberal", but it seems that her bleeding heart was in the right place.

Let's don't be like the schmucks at DU. She may have been confused, but it appears she did what she did out of love and she paid the ultimate price.

God bless her and her family.

I was stating a fact! No matter who you are you don't go into a battle zone without the chance of being hurt.

GUARANTEE !! The neocommunist,anti-Americans will suggest that this was the work of the CIA.

My bet, of course, is that she was so concerned about the decrease in US casualties that she misread the insurgents' orders of the day and forgat to avoid a place where she knew a blast would take place.

The girl died doing something she believed in Even if you disagree, your comment is dispicable.

That is mean don't think after all she just died. Her actions right or wrong did help many needy people. I have respect for her since she was trying to help people in need unlike many who do nothing. She took the risk and paid the ultimate price. God bless her.
