OUR prayers are with the Cardinals in conclave. May the Lord guide their hearts and minds. Is it also right to pray that the new Pope come out strong for all that good and in support of right vs. wrong - even if there needs to be bloodshed in the process?

I keep getting an image of a Texas Cage Match, with all these Cardinals locked within, fighting it out, desks and chairs crashing about, ripped cloaks and hats...

That's why the cloaks are red - so you can't see the blood. LOL... :)

God has not been shy about shedding the blood of those who pollute His world - I would suggest that the prayer simply be ended with a "Your Will be done" and ask for guidance in being personally obedient to His perfect Will and to be a willing participant in His perfect Plan for us.
God Bless

I picture that at this point they've all stripped off the vestments, and are lounging in boxers and wife beaters. How do you say "Do you want a piece of me?" in latin?

Question please. I was watching the ceremony this morning, one of the Cardinals was dressed in a black robe, had a beard and totally appeared different, was this man the Jesuit that will lead the prayer? The commentators did not comment on him, at least not that I heard.

LOL. No he was an Eastern-rite cardinal.
To: HapaxLegamenon
My question was an honest one, Why the difference of an Eastern Rite Cardinal?

In the Roman Catholic Church you have different "Rites" that is liturgies. There is the Roman Rite, or Latin Rite which is the largest, and the Mother of all else. That is why the Pope or Bishop of Roman, who is the "Patriarch" of the west is the superior of all the other bishop including the eastern patriarchs.
The other rites are like Eastern Orthodox or Russian Orthodox in liturgy and customs, only they ACCPET the pope as head of the Church and accept the Catholic teaching on dogmas (especially the filioque). But they have different customs, their Mass or "Divine Liturgy" is different (although not in essentials) and their vestments and priestly garbs are different from that of the Roman Rite.
To: HapaxLegamenon
Thank you for the explanation and without the chuckle this time....One more question can the other rites become Pope as well?
