ELECTION OF A PONTIFF Pope choice fulfills ancient prophecy?
WorldNetDaily.com ^ | April 19, 2005 | WorldNetDaily.com

A prophecy by a 12th-century Catholic saint that predicted characteristics of the last 112 popes appears to have been strengthened by the election of the new pontiff today.

The prophecy labels the new pope "the Glory of the Olive." The Benedictine Order is known as the Olivetans and has as its symbol the olive branch. The new pope, though not of that order, chose as his name Benedict XVI.

I think the prophecy you refer to is so general that many could fulfill this prophecy. And if this "prophet" is found to be wrong, will that "prophet" be condemned as false prophets in the Bible were condemned.

"St. Malachy, an Irish Catholic bishop, was known as a gifted prophet, even predicting the date of his own death in 1148."

I understand that Curt Cobain also predicted the date of his own death, as did Hunter Thompson. Both of them were obviously prophets.

Why do I have a feeling that no matter who got picked they would find a connection to these ooogah boogah prophecies? The last I heard, God said something like "No one knows the future, that's my business, now shut up" or something.

Such a stoopid prophecy....

"The next pope will take a name from the Order of Olives"

This tells us nothing of value.

Notice that no 'prophets' have ever been specific about anything. It's like fortune tellers.

Just for Fun......

RE:222 by: Dan on: Saturday 12 February 2005 @ 12:39:58 Don't you people ever read the Bible??

The amount of time between September 11, 2001 and February 22, 2005 (2/22) is exactly 1,260 days. In the Middle of the Seven. Read your Daniel.

The 111 refers to the day the Monarch woke up, on January 11, 2005 (1/11/05) to the facts above.

The 444 refers to God exalting the Monarch to deity status, as opposed to man deifying himself, which is 666.

And 2/22/05, the Monarch will appear, and will call himself Pope Benedict XVI, the Pope of Peace, who will lead his church, all the faithful followers of the Lord Jesus Christ to their martyrdom, at the foot of the Cross that stands upon the Mount of Olives.

Whereupon the Monarch entering Israel, becomes Elijah, the gentile olive tree, and one of the two witnesses of Revelation 11.

And, when it comes time, he will take the keys, crown and sceptre handed down to him by Jesus through Peter, and offer it at the base of that cross, and subsequently be pierced, and die.

He will comfort his people, and restrain God's Arm against the world as long as he can, until his martyrdom in Jerusalem.

He will leave Rome shortly before April 8, 2005, with all those who love the Lord Jesus, before the coming of Antichrist who seeks the Throne of St. Peter for himself. He calls himself the 'Lord Maitreya', and is the First Beast of the Apocalypse, the Lawless One, the Little Horn of Daniel. He will call himself Petrus Romanus (Peter of Rome) and known as Peter II.

But Gloriae Olivae (The Glory of the Olives) will tear down the walls of the Vatican, auctioning off all the objects within, in order to feed and enlighten those in the 3rd World who have not yet heard the Gospel according to Christ, nor the prophet Pope's message that accompanies it. And he will convert hundreds of millions, for the Hand and Spirit of the Lord is upon him to fulfill His Will, for the sake of the Gentile nations, for which innocent must be shed, or there is no salvation for them.

And Gloriae will return and rule the Millennial Kingdom upon the earth, as the Messiah returns to the Heavens. He will act as king and judge over his people he redeemed for His Father's sake. At the end of that Millennium, Satan will loosed from the Abyss for one final grab for souls before he is destroyed forever.

And when the battle over evil is finally over, God the Father will destroy the physical Universe, and we will all live in the spiritual New Jerusalem. And Gloriae will take his seat in the Inner Cabinet in Heaven, beside his true brother Jesus, and the other seven Archangels. And his name is Dan'el, and his number is 444. [ Reply ]

In recent years people have made much hay over the conclusion of a Mayan calendar, as well as this long list of Popes. Isn't it just as reasonable to conclude that whoever made up the lists may have simply gotten tired and decided to call it a day after writing up to the year 2012, or figured 112 was a good stopping point before supper, then cast the project aside? lol

I've long thought the same. I'll believe a prediction when long before hand it's written down with Who, What , Where and When. None of this cryptic fluff for me.

I'm, tired of predictions that make as much sense as "two(2) toads few over the golden prince while eating invisable robot fish." I might as well read the Nation Enquirer for the news.

What's the significance of 2/22/2005? I did a Google search, and could only see it was in the middle of National Engineers' Week.

I think that the 12th Century is too recent to be considered 'ancient.'

"...which ones do you believe?..."

Well, I must admit I find the Mayan thing (not that I know much about any of them) quite interesting. But I don't "believe" any of them, but I don't think they end just because they authors "got tired". Maybe Nostardamus, but not the other two.

Last week I read on some web site that the Olive prophecy meant we'd get an Italian pope. Since that didn't work out they are contriving something else. Just like the NostraBS prophecies, you can make them "predict" anything to match the outcome after the fact.

Well, considering that the Virgin Mary was spotted on the Kennedy Expressway in Chicago.... The end must be near I'm telling you!!!

My favorite was the fake Nostradamus prophecy about the two towers in York.

Well, Ratzinger took the name of Benedict when he became Pope. So some say that that's basically close enough.
